Crossing my fingers that the second season can live up to the phenomenal first one!

I haven't seen the first one yet. What was so phenomenal about it?

Oh man you're in for a treat. I'm not going to give anything away story wise so you don't have to worry about spoilers. I think I can say that - without a doubt - it's the greatest nostalgia inducing 80's throwback you'll ever see. From the music to the in-universe technology. Just watch the trailer below to get a feel for it (it doesn't give too much away):
If this speaks to you just invest an hour of your time and watch the first episode. If you're not hooked after that this series is not for you.

I like nostalgica, so I'll give it a shot soon. But dude, if there isn't a fucking NES in it, now that you mentioned technology from the 80's, I'm going to be disappointed. (don't spoil me on that one, I'll just see ;D )

Btw. I've seen Suicide Squad... fun little movie, with quit a few flaws when it comes to the story. I liked Leto's Joker, even though the hype was pretty unwarranted after so less air time and how less he acutally played a role in the story. There was also way to less time for all these characters to develop, but man, can you imagine a TV series of Suicide Squad with the same cast and all? That would be the tits! ^^

Cool that you liked Suicide Squad. It's not perfect by any means, but it is really fun. As for The Joker, they actually recorded a lot more material, but it ended up on the cutting room floor. Rumor has it the film was supposed to be a lot darker, but many scenes were cut because of the negative response people had to the dark tone of Batman V Superman. Also, yeah, like miscmisc mentioned in the rant thread "character acting" is just a gimmick and it so happens they used that to hype people for the film.
The Suicide Squad actually appeared in Arrow (in Season 2 I believe), but they had to kill off the characters when it was decided that there would be a Suicide Squad movie. Warner Bros/DC don't want the TV Universe to star the same characters as the movie universe, even though they are separate entities.

Yeah, the Joker came across somewhat darker and more grim. A dark tone would have been great, especially in contrast to some of the other, more funny scenes.... fucking pussys lol.

Has anyone watched Stranger Things on Netflix? I binged the whole thing yesterday and it was fantastic. A few friends and I binged it over the weekend. It was crazy good. Like watching an 8 hour retro-Spielberg movie based off a Stephen King novel.

That's actually a great way to describe it. It's rare in today's climate where people bitch about everything for something to be so universally loved.

I have been pleasantly surprised with how consistently good their original series are (Bojack Horseman is awesome). Looks like their model of creating whole seasons of shows in one go is really paying dividends. Incidentally, I'm applying for a job in the original content marketing group of Netflix Japan so may not be entirely unbiased there.

That's great man, good luck to you.
And bias or not, you're right about the Netflix series. With the exception of the Adam Sandler movies, pretty much every Netflix exclusive has been solid. Beasts Of No Nation, DareDevil, Jessica Jones and Stranger Things are all great and I can't wait for Luke Cage to hit in 3 weeks. Another binger right around the corner.

Has anyone watched Luke Cage yet? It came out yesterday and I binged all 13 episodes. It was awesome, on par with Daredevil and Jessica Jones (the other Marvel Netflix shows).

I was considering it, but I'm sorta burned out on Marvel type stuff (haven't seen anything after Avengers 2). Is it independent enough from the main Marvel movie universe to get without being up to date?

Oh yeah. The Marvel Netflix stuff, while still part of the MCU, is still very much its own thing. There are some obvious references, but you don't have to have seen any of the movies to get them. The Netflix shows are also much darker and more serious than the movies. It's a completely different tone.
It might help if you have seen Daredevil and Jessica Jones though; all the shows play in different city blocks of New York and some of the characters cross over between shows. It's not a chore at all though. Just watch the first episode of Daredevil and by the end of it you'll know if it is for you.
