Looking forward to GLORY running Sitthichai vs. Marat V!
Real talk, I'm pretty sure Josh Jauncey is next in line and it'll be interesting to see how he fares now.

I've watched it on Veronica last night and thought it was okay. It was heavily condensed and didn't really cover any of the tournament stuff, so I can't really make a comment on the event as a whole, but:
Sitthichai vs Marat was once again fun and competitive, but some things surprised me here: Marat was actually outkicking Sitthichai, but for some reason was weirdly committed to throwing strangely angled superman punches throughout the whole fight. Since none of them even remotely connected it made Marat look a lot worse than if he hadn't thrown so many of them and had just stuck to more conventional boxing.
I thought it was funny how Nick Hemmers left the ring in disgust after Sitthichai was declared the winner, as if some huge robbery had just taken place.
At this point I don't need to see this matchup again for a while. The dynamic would be very different if Marat had at least won one of their encounters, but at this point you more or less expect the same scenario to play out if/when they meet again.
As for Jauncey, while I really liked what I saw from him in his last two fights, I think he needs at least one more good fight against a quality opponent to completely redeem himself from his 'slump' where I could comfortably say he may give Sitthichai a good (re)match.
I thought de Keirsmaeker/Zhang was pretty fun and was positively surprised Glory made the right decision and declared Zhang/Bilalovski a no contest. The same scenario happened in 'DFS' two months ago and they had no qualms giving Paraschiv the victory for knocking out his opponent with a spinning back forearm.
Ten Pow/Xie was alright as well.
Again, from what limited amount of the event I saw it was decent.
Oh, one thing that I found weirdly hilarious was the (Chinese..?) ref who aggressively screamed FIGHT!!!! at the top of his lungs every 10 seconds as if the fighters somehow don't realize the situation they're currently in. He must've played a lot of Mortal Kombat.
Some sidenotes about the the Veronica broadcast: Despite it being a 90 minute condensed version of the event already, there was still a lot of studio footage from Remy Bonjaski and the Veronica lady analyzing the fights. They also showed a mini interview with Rico in the gym where they tried to lure him into saying Badr is too scared to fight him, but Rico was quick to dismiss it and said there probably was a disagreement with Glory. Rico commented on Guto being a dangerous opponent. They also showed some footage of van Roosmalen getting ready for his next fight, saying he's ready for Petch and wasn't impressed with his last showing.
Also something that isn't really important, but did irk me: While analyzing Marat, the Veronica lady said something about the people at Hemmers gym comparing Marat's fighting style somewhat to Ramon Dekkers. Remy reacted almost offended and said something along the lines of 'Marat can't hold a candle to Ramon and mentioning the two in the same sentence is blasphemous'. I was really surprised by that. I mean sure, Dekkers is a legend, but he was active 25 years ago when the level of professional fighting in general was far from what it is today. While I'm all about respecting legends and pioneers, I don't feel like we should walk around egg shells drawing parallels to the here and now.
If Ali and Tyson would have been in their primes today or during the Klitschko era with the exact skillset they possessed back then, they probably would have gotten crushed by the top level guys now. I realize that's a different conversation altogether, but saying something like that isn't 'blasphemy'.
I don't know, maybe Remy just wanted to put Ramon on a pedestal.

Glory 70 kg isn't very deep now though so who knows what is going to happen there. Out of the bunch Jauncey is the logical next opponent and it's a fine enough fight. Marat should go do the Kunlun tournament again next year If he doesn't, it'll be fun seeing Glory try and figure out their way into the inevitability of another Sitti-Marat after a couple other fights. All the Golden Glory/K-1 Dutchies seem soooo high on Dekkers. It's just been so many of the same guys around the top of the sport and they've had the platforms to parrot that Dekkers was so great. Repeat something enough times and it just gets accepted. Fine fighter and who knows maybe he was the greatest guy ever but he just isn't the absolute world beater they try and push him as.

Hemmers storming out and me reading people claiming it was a "robbery" made my day on Saturday. Like, what? Apparently a certain subset of fans still doesn't understand how fights are scored and how Thai fighters can score points without putting on earmuffs and throwing 1-2-low kick combos or just lobbing sloppy bombs.
I feel like Sitthichai is nursing a leg injury or something, because it's weird for him not to be kicking as much.

I feel like Sitthichai is nursing a leg injury or something, because it's weird for him not to be kicking as much. I have a theory; he kicked plenty in rounds 3 and 4, so I think now that he is comfortably at the top of the division and not worried about scoring he is just reverting to old habits. Box and play around in rounds 1 and 2, bring out all the kicks and knees in rounds 3 and 4, fight defensively in the 5th. It also kinda explains why Marat did better.
