Committing to the Hannibal gimmick but bowing to all sides of the ring and then to the ring announcer, great visual Anthony Hopkins was hauntingly polite in the films as well. Perhaps this guy wants to mimic that with his ring persona. Probably not. Edit: Gotta say Nastase looks a lot creepier than Da Cruz to me.

LMAO Nastase felt like doing some push-ups after knocking out Da Cruz.

I was somewhat looking forward to watching Paraschiv fight, but there were way too many breaks in the action to enjoy this.
Also I think Ciobanu made a wrong call with the knockdown. This should have either been declared a No Contest or Nurridinov should have won by DQ as the cut was caused by Paraschiv connecting the backfist with his forearm.

Ristea coming out to the UFC theme, hopefully the fight won't get cancelled.

The crowd didn't like the decision, though in all honesty I didn't pay a lot of attention.

I dunno if I should feel bad for or be angry at Gordon Haupt.
Perhaps a bit of both. He used to train with a former colleague of mine who only had good things to say about him. I saw Haupt fight on the undercard of A1 or Enfusion when I went to an event in Eindhoven 2 or 3 years ago. He looked decent there. I was surprised when I saw Haupt scheduled in a Glory event a few months later. Unfortunately, he failed miserably against Braddock Silva among others. Of course next thing you could expect was him fighting in Romania. I'm not frustrated with Haupt for failing, but for not showing any heart and looking like he doesn't care. I just can't respect that.

Lol, 10 second blowout fight. Lepsveridze happily let himself be counted out as soon as he felt Benny's power.

Cool to see Mike Passenier in Kemayo's corner.

Results Catalin Morosanu defeats Freddy Kemayo by Unanimous Decision Boxing Rules Bout: Benjamin Adegbuyi defeats Aleksander Lepsveridze by KO R1 Ion Pascu defeats Maxim Zaplitni by Decision Sebastian Cozmanca defeats Gordon Haupt by KO R1 Cristian Ristea defeats Miroslav Vujocic by Split Decision Amansio Paraschiv defeats Waldemar Wiebe Nurridinov by TKO R3*B Bogdan Nastase defeats Janu Da Cruz by KO R2 Claudiu Badoi defeats Cezar Buzdugan by Decision Kyokushin Rules Bout: Catalin Mocanu defeats Edar Ismailov by Decision Alexandru Radnev defeats Raul Manoila by TKO*A Madalin Mogos defeats Costin Mincu by Decision
*A: I can't stress enough how bad of a decision this was. Radnev received two counts in Round 1 and was saved by the bell. The fight was more competitive in Rounds 2 and 3, but even if you generously give them to Radnev it doesn't negate the 10-7 first round for Manoila. They called it a draw with an extra round after 3, but Manoila couldn't continue for some reason so Radnev was gifted the TKO win.
This is not the type of 'bad' decision where there's room for debate. This is a mathematical paradox.
*B: This should have either been declared a No Contest or Nurridinov should have won by DQ as the cut was caused by Paraschiv connecting the backfist with his forearm.
It's bullshit like this that made it hard for me to take SK seriously after a certain point.
Some other, minor annoyances: - Sound design inconsistencies: Sometimes there would be no music between rounds/fights.
- The On Screen Clock was often out of sync with reality, leading to more than one odd looking situation where the bell rung with the timer at 0:10 or more.
They may seem like minor things, but nothing oozes amateurism like consistently getting the simplest things wrong.
Also, most of the fights just weren't fun to watch. At the very least the fights should be entertaining. It's the bare minimum to even watch and goes a long way in giving an event redeeming quality.
On to the good, because there actually also was some cool stuff to be positive about.
- The Kyokushin rules bout. While it was not exactly Kakuda vs. Hug, it was a fun fight and one can't help but appreciate the nod to its origins.
- Claudiu Badoi scoring an awesome knockdown on Cezar Buzdugan that he somehow got up from relatively fine.
- Some of the fighters that were clearly invited to get their asses handed to them actually put up somewhat of a fight. It's more of a 'defeating the odds' kind of thing as opposed to good organisation, but I'll take anything I can get at this point.
- Even though it was a sloppy brawl and Kemayo looked very slow from the start, the fight ended up being competitive and somewhat entertaining. It was the one fight that had to deliver and - at least to a degree - it did.
Overall it's an event that leaves me with mixed feelings, though I'm definitely very much leaning to this just being a bad event. While in a way it was cool to see a successor to SuperKombat and they tried to mix things up by having a boxing and kyokushin fight in there, this event also reminded me of everything bad about SK. It's the same people running the show so I can't exactly say it comes as a surprise, though. By their standards, they probably knocked this one out of the park LoL
The worst thing you could say about an event is that it felt like a waste of time, but of the 4 hours I spent watching this about 3 of them felt like a complete waste and that's very unfortunate, because I was hoping for something more here.
For better or worse, SuperKombat is back by way of Dynamite Fighting Show.
