Jon Jones: "After lots of soul searching and wringing of hands it has been decided and agreed by myself, his excellency Dana White and the much esteemed Fertitta Bros that Daniel Cormier is to be removed from his position as challenger for my 205lb title in tomorrow nights PPV main event at the cavernous Grand Garden Arena at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada. He will be replaced by a "mystery" opponent, the identity of whom will not be (officially) revealed until he makes entrance to the Octagon TOMORROW NIGHT!!!.
I am most thankful for the opportunity to take part in this intriguing piece of fight history, the likes of which has never been seen before, marking my territory as a true revolutionary ground breaker in the field of combat sports.
Also, I am very satisfied with this turn of events as I likely would had lost if I had indeed fought my scheduled opponent and would have been forced to pull out of the contest by such farcical means as a fabricated injury had my demands for a change of opponent were not met, even at less than 24 hours notice. That is how fearful I was of this particular fight.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my fans, my real fans, for their quite frankly, unyielding support during this harrowing time for me. I promise a great showing for you in this titanic battle against whomever.
I would like to hand you over to my friend Dana White as to why my opponent will not be Daniel Cormier......."
DW: "I'd like to thank Jon for his statement, he's a good guy.....I'm gonna cut to the chase right now: Daniel Cormier has been removed from tomorrow's fight because of his use of social media in this fight was not the way we like to see it being done here in the UFC.....yeah, I said that, Cormier has been hounding Jon and.....Jon's been getting a lot of abuse via his personal social media accounts and he doesn't like it and it's wrong. Anybody who has seen or read any responses or barbs to Cormier and his fans from Jon's personal social media accounts I'd like it known that they've all been hacked. Several times. All of 'em. The responses are NOT from Jon and do not reflect his own feelings and thoughts. Cormier has not created the proper atmosphere for a PPV fight and he's gone and typed or tweeted, if you like, his ass out of it, stat. I'd like to thank Jon for his statement, again.
We're gonna have a great night tomorrow and please join us tomorrow night on PPV with whoever we can dig up for Jon at this late notice, but hey, we're the UFC.....it's what we do. We get it, we like it, we love it. It's in our blood, our DNA. Thanks to Jon, once more."
LOL, I think the closest we came to something like that in the UFC - them trying to sell/hype a shit replacement on short notice - was when Cormier fought Cummins.
BTW I think this just might mean we'll get to see Quarteron fighting Badr in Morocco after all. Not that that's the biggest matchup of the century or anything.
) If they pay him 20 hotdogs he will take the fight without thinking.
