I don't dislike the lineup, but the tournament shows that Glory has obviously taken a huge hit.
In addition to Saki and Spong being (probably) gone, is Corbett gone as well?
I believe his contract was for two fights.

 Andrei Stoica replaced by Artem Vakhitov. Good to see Vakhitov getting a shot over Stoica who is currently scheduled for the SuperKombat Finals on the same date anyway (they showed a poster at the SuperKombat event in Almere that I don't think made it to the internet yet). |

So this card is receiving a lot of hate on various forums, Facebook etc.
Personally I still think the card is decent, keeping in mind Glory's current situation.
What do you guys think?

Given that GLORY seem to be knee deep in horseshit, I really like this (TV portion) card. It does appear to be a show for the double hardcore 4x4 type of kickboxing fan (read=us) The main event has the makings of a rollercoaster and both guys are seemingly never in a bad fight, big RVR fan right here. The tournament could be a bit of diamond in all actuality in terms of action (and I am very agreeable with Vakhitov replacing Stoica, guy's a beast. His fight with Cavalri is one I'm looking forward too) although I'm not too crazy about Brian Collette's involvement although I get it, he's American.
Even Barrett-Wilnis is a promising fight. Barrett is capable of the odd surprise and Wilnis is also very watchable whilst being tougher than the proverbial $2 steak (hat tip to Good ol' Jim Ross). Interesting to see how Wayne deals with the "Dutch" style.
Maybe GLORY will start to build some of their promising but under-the-radar type talents now. Hopefully it's not a case of too little to late and also I hope this show doesn't tank in the ratings given that a majority of their big name but high price tag stars have jumped ship.

You know, apparently Glory's continuing with the "Super Fight Series" which is the dumbest thing ever if they're going to continue that format and execution as it has been done thus far.
I've read someone post on one of the other forums that the undercard should be used for the "Road 2 Glory" where new talents are given a shot which is something I absolutely agree with as it's downright.. logical!
About Barrett vs Wilnis; I believe Barrett will absolutely maul Wilnis. I have yet to see him losing a fight; I thought Schilling getting the nod against him in the Last Man Standing tournament was... questionable. The way I see it Barrett potentially poses the most serious threat to Levin's superiority.

Danyo Ilunga Replaces Artem Vakhitov at GLORY 18 www.liverkick.com/index.php/item/3220-danyo-ilunga-replaces-artem-vakhitov-at-glory-18Although I like Vakhitov and am kinda bummed he is out, this does increase the name value of the tournament. They might as well turn this into a championship tournament now rather than a contender tournament as Ilunga and Cavalari are the most deserving guys to fight for the title now that Saki and Spong are gone (Corbett is probably gone as well ..?). |
