Amazing event. A good night for the Shootboxing guys.
I hope The Match is the beginning
Getting the ppv was a bit of a hastle. Thankfully the VPN did its thing. I use Nord VPN regularly on the ABEMA app for K-1 events and so far it's been successful.

* The Rise/Shootbox alliance did beat K-1, but it was pretty close: 9-7. Not really fair... I think you should not count the heavyweight fights... The fat japanese dudes were not RISE, nor Shootboxing guys. For me was 7 RISE, 7 K-1, 2 Shootboxing. Ignore the HW.

K-1 vs. 'the rest' is a simplified way to keep score, but sure if you want to get technical about it you could make an argument there.
Scoring that part of the event kinda feels like semantics, anyway. At the end of the day K-1 lost the fights that mattered most with Takeru and Noiri to both Rise and SB.
While I think there are mostly positive takeaways from this event for all parties involved, I'm pretty confident K-1 isn't too happy about their two best guys losing in the main and co-main events.
Even more so when we take today's statement by Takeru into account.

The bullet points, thanks to translations by karaevfan. Takeru says he: * is taking a break from fighting. * wants to thank fans for their support. * in some ways learned more from this loss than from winning. * feels he is unworthy to represent K-1. * is returning his belt so a new generation can step up. * has been keeping a bunch of serious injuries a secret that required surgery. * has been dealing with depression. * has some goals in mind for the future which he's keeping to himself for now. It would be a shame if this is the end of Takeru's K-1/kickboxing career, but it sure looks like it. First and foremost I hope Takeru gets well, both mentally and physically. He's been a great champion and comes across as a thoughtful guy. What I don't hope is that he returns to fighting without his heart really being in it, or making some ill-advised crossover to MMA or boxing. I feel like it's too late for that.

Yeah, at least Gonappar, Wajima and Masashi Kumura won... Kumura one is kinda important, he has a win over Shiro now who has a win over Masahiko Suzuki, who has a win now over Akihiro Kaneko, who has a very narrow win against Kumura These four guys together with Kazane are the top 5, 53-55kg guys in Japan right now. Kaneko has the looks and the style to be next Takeru, but at least they have Kumura who probably is the best ranked of all those guys right now. Waiting for the Combat Press rankings of July.
