I don't really have faith PPV/DAZN/FITE can work for non-American markets / non-American sports. USA is oversaturated with UFC and Boxing, I don't think Kickboxing will ever be big there. Unless there is a Zuffa Kickboxing event, with UFC fighters on it. |

Yeah and I just don't believe Europeans (nor other non-American Western countries) will embrace the PPV model. Not any time soon, at least. 100% agree: it's been tried and tested and never succeeded outside the North Americas. |

Watching the weekly Remy & Marinho podcast and heard a fun tidbit, especially for those that have been around a while. Remy is currently on vacation in L.A. and was contacted by someone to do a seminar while he's there. That someone was none other than former shot-putting champion and K-1 fighter Randy Kim, who has a gym in L.A. Remy ended up doing the seminar and I even found a little video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyykwQPv0hZ Apparently after his K-1 career Kim opened a Kickboxing gym and it's still going strong. Glory RIVALS is making a comeback. Rise's December 16th card features 3 RIVALS themed fights: Kan Nakamura vs. Ahmed Akoudad Kenta Nanbara vs. Victor de Koning Seina vs. Tessa de Kom BeyondKick did a write-up on it as well. We've seen de Kom fight in both Glory and Rise before, but I think Akoudad and de Koning are newcomers - at least in terms of "Glory representatives". Petch is also defending his Rise belt on the card against Chadd Colins, but that one is listed as a regular Rise bout. Cool thing is the card will be available on Abema without geo-block (which is normal for Rise events I believe). So it seems that RIVALS isn't completely dead yet, it's just that Glory doesn't appear to be doing anything with Enfusion anymore (other than poaching their fighters lol). In his podcast Remy mentioned having heard it had something to do with contracts. Surprisingly, Glory hasn't really mentioned anything yet regarding their own December 16th card aka Glory 90. The event is only 6-7 weeks away and it's not even listed on their website yet. |
