Some of my thoughts:
The good
+ Overall a solid event that I'd say is comparable to Glory 83, but is a bit better due to not ending in a lame way.
+ Beztati taking out Petch. It's not something I saw coming at all. While he was behind on points, I thought Petch was still hanging in there as Beztati's body started to look bruised. Great performance by Beztati.
+ Khbabez got the win he desperately needed, even if he did look very sloppy getting it. Toledo to his credit is tough as nails and gave Khabebz some trouble early on.
+ Overmeer impressed against Bates who looked a bit rusty.
+ Boapeah vs. Bayrak was a great brawl. Halfway through the second round Bayrak's tank was about empty and he just couldn't keep up with Boapeah anymore, who had a great performance today. A much needed win for Team ARJ.
+ Laïdouni was a nice surprise as I wasn't sure what to expect from that fight. The difference in experience between him and Khachab was obvious.
+ Kwasi vs. Orza was pretty good. Kwasi using his reach well picking shots while Orza showed heart.
+ Chico Kwasi came out to the Ultra Instinct theme. I'm a fan.
The bad
- The ref (Edward Strijkert) didn't call out Micheletti on repeatedly throwing multiple knees in the clinch. While I'm happy for Micheletti ending his losing streak, it does lose a bit of its shine due to the multiple clinch knees.
- Disappointing performance by Mahieddine against Micheletti. He looked decent in the first round, but steadily declined after.
- Not a very good opening fight. Tuitupou is a big, strong guy who is way out of shape and needs to lose 40-50 kgs. I believe I saw Sason Suttie in his corner, so at least he has the right people around him. At least Mitric did the smart thing and waited for a round until Tuitupou tired out and then went to work.
- JayJay Boske, again, doing backstage interviews in the dressing rooms. Stop that shit. I liked that when asked in the studio Manhoef said he doesn't appreciate that.
Some additional notes:
* During his post-fight interview Khbabez said he looked sloppy, because he was dealing with an 'annoying' injury. Maikel Polanen didn't want him to say what it was.
* Aside from the stupid backstage interviews, Videoland is so much better at event coverage than Glory.
* Not sure how I feel about a female ref with these big(ger) guys. Glory did this at least once before.
* Was a bit surprised when I heard one of the refs mention at one point that there are no standing 8 counts.
