Karim ‘Gadjetboy’ Ghajii has suffered an injury in training and cannot compete against Yoann Kongolo (59-5, 45 KO’s) on the Superfight Series section of the card.

His place will be taken by Cedric Doumbe (48-3-1, 32 KO’s), from France by way of Angola.

Doumbe and Kongolo have a history after their 2014 match ended in a controversial points loss for Doumbe. Harsh words were exchanged between the two before and after the fight and now they have the chance to settle their issue in the ring.

It looks like the rumors were true and for some weird reason Pierre Andurand is fighting some sort of exhibition fight on this card.

Apparently Crice Boussoukou has not been cleared to fight in the tournament and Djime Coulibaly - who was scheduled to fight Marat Grigorian in the Tournament Reserve on the SuperFight Series portion of the card - takes his place.
You can argue that Coulibaly gets a chance because he's the local guy, but to me this looks just like Glory giving Jauncey an easier opponent.

I have no idea what this means for Grigorian: is he instantly qualified to step in as a reserve-finalist now?

No no this fight already took place at a different, private event. Something about hearth foundation or something like that. And Pierre won.

The World Series of Fighting 21 drew 203,000 viewers on NBC Sports Network on Friday night according to Sports TV Ratings. In addition, Glory Kickboxing on Spike TV drew 152,000 viewers on Friday night.

WSOF aired on NBCSN from 9:00pm-11:00pm ET while Glory aired on Spike TV from 4:00pm-6:10pm ET.


Payout Perspective:

Low numbers for both events. While WSOF was an increase of over 35% from its WSOF 20, it still was below the prior 3 WSOF events. Glory showed a precipitous drop from a very good Glory 21 rating. We shall see if these ratings were an anomaly, due to a lack of promotion or due to the increase in combat sports events on television making it hard for viewers to keep track.

That's pretty much a disaster, no? Yes, it happened quite early in the day, but the numbers were still way lower than if the show was on tape delay but at proper hours.

At first sight the ratings look bad. However, I have no idea what the rating standards are for afternoon programming at Spike. Given the timeslot, the ratings might be 'okay'.

While it would have been a no-brainer to also do a re-run at the usual timeslot, Glory might simply not have that good a deal with Spike in which they can use the two hour time slot twice a day, not even in situations like this one.

Both Spike and GLORY refused to give us any numbers. I know this because Stets and I were bitching to each other about how hard these were to acquire. Sports ratings blogs, though, they don't spin no numbers.
