LOL, I hate those awkward feeling backstage interviews Glory forcefeeds us EVERY EVENT.
I feel ashamed just watching those.

So yeah, the karate stylist decided to box with a boxer and got pounded in Round 1.
What a surprise!
Damn Glory, at least pick a guy that LOOKS in shape.

Why aren't Glory referees respecting the "no standing 8 count" rule? First count the guy didn't touch the canvas with anything but his legs, they should have let it go. Whatever, still ended in a nasty KO

Mwekassa even gets a special post fight PA played. GLORY must have plans for him.
He can't buy a win in my GLORY universe.

Lol Why aren't Glory referees respecting the "no standing 8 count" rule? I believe that only applies to the US.

The only thing that I can come up with after years of watching and thinking about it is: I think there must be a basic unwritten rule for all kickboxing referees that you MUST NOT know the actual rules and regulations of the promotion you are officiating.

I can't think of any other sport where the officials have that "I'm not quite sure what to do here" appearance than there are in kickboxing.

The only thing that I can come up with after years of watching and thinking about it is: I think there must be a basic unwritten rule for all kickboxing referees that you MUST NOT know the actual rules and regulations of the promotion you are officiating. I remember when the Sefo VS Eastman fight was stopped in K-1 in 2004 without Eastman actually going down they explained it by saying there are no standing 8 counts in Vegas/US so it's either no count or a stoppage. I can't think of any other sport where the officials have that "I'm not quite sure what to do here" appearance than there are in kickboxing. I absolutely hate when in EVERY ORG EVERYWHERE fights don't get instantly stopped when a fighter is knocked down the required amount of times for it to be ruled a TKO and the ref gives a count for no reason. Only K-1 has/had this down perfectly.

Calari definitely deserves it, but how does Mwekassa? Because of his win over Brooks? ))))) ok And i know it will happen, which makes it even more sad. Glory is giving a lot of US guys easy fights to pad their records. That's the only explanation of why Collete is #3 in the rankings and Vigney is #5 etc.

It's the same situation with Holzken VS Daniels II. They want North Americans shoehorned in title fights and if there aren't any North Americans available they settle for the next best thing: Charismatic fighters who speak English very well.
At least that's my theory.

I wasn't referring to that partictular instance, more of the air that surrounds kickboxing events with regard to these type of things. The 2x knockdown rule that still to this day seems to stump 80% of the officials. I'd be willing to bet that if a ref did give a standing 8 later in the night, there wouldn't be too much of a challenge. Everybody just goes with whatever happens at the time. And, when a point is deducted in a KB fight it's rarely done in such a way that ringsiders and TV audience are made fully aware, that's another thing that seems to happen.
