McGregor via mindgames tbh. Shame after all the hype and missing the 1st match we didn't get to see one established to be the better one through more time in the cage though.

Some great fights though, main card was so good.

Fucking love Maia for going full jitz against Gunni. I was worried it be a horrible stand up fight but it was a beautiful grappling display.

Rockhold was incredible. Really thought it should have been stopped at the end of the third though. Weidman was a mess.

Feel really bad for Jose, poor guy looked distraught after the fight. Can't argue with McGregor's ability though. I'm a huge fan of Conor's fighting, it's just the way he acts since he got a bit of attention in the UFC that's so unbearable. But still, there are always signs that remind me it's just an act. Like what he said at the post-fight press conference when he showed some genuine empathy for Aldo. Reminded me of the old confident but humble guy from Cage Warriors.

Well, what can I say? I'm just terribly disappointed in the way the Aldo VS McGregor played out. To me Aldo looked mentally beaten before the fight even began, but I never would have expected something like this to happen. This has to be just about the most humiliating way to lose your title. I'm sure Aldo feels pretty bad about himself right now and while I can sympathize, I think he should feel bad about getting crushed like that. Losing like that after 10 years of dominance makes your previous achievements look questionable. I absolutely detest McGregor's media persona and act or not, it does have a real effect on people. I hate the notion - and once again confirmation - that it pays off to be a dick. While I like to watch McGregor perform as a fighter, he's the type of guy I could never root for unless he fights an even bigger jerk. Now, to be fair, I did like what McGregor said after the fight the same way I generally liked what he said after previous fights. I wish he acted like that all the time. I get it, trashtalking sells fights. As for me, if it's a good matchup I'm going to be excited. One sided trashtalk just makes me biased against whoever is acting like an ass. McGregor will get his in due time.

On to the rest of the card, I thoroughly enjoyed Weidman surprisingly getting pounded by Rockhold. A lot of first time experiences for Weidman and some much needed (IMO) humiliation. Oh, and keep his dad away from the mic in the future.

Romero VS Jacare was a good fight with a bad decision.

I didn't expect Nelson to get owned like he did.

Overall, the card was fine: The way Aldo/McGregor played out just overshadowed other big things like Rockholds huge win over Weidman. However, at least to me, this card definitely didn't meet the hype.

I agree it was a huge letdown after all these months of build up for the fight to end like that. I still feel like I don't really know who is 'better'.

I don't think Aldo was mentally beaten before the fight. He looks like that before all his fights (staring at the floor and not making eye contact). It's possible that he was a lot more angry than usual though, which is why he rushed in with the big shot like that. Either way McGregor got the desired effect...

To me Aldo came across a lot more nervous than usual, but it might've been McGregor's extremely relaxed entrance that put it in such stark contrast.

McGregor will get his in due time.

Exactly. Now the UFC can market him it's all roses. But it won't be long before the UFC gets everyone onboard a new hype train and they treat McGregor the same way they did Aldo, Jones, and GSP. Somehow I suspect McGregor knows this.

angry. I agree. I feel like he wanted to kill McGregor and it got to him. he came out really really wanting to hit him and you could tell imo. he had no focus. he had blind rage. you cannot fucking do that.
