TWO LATE CHANGES TO GLORY 33 SUPERFIGHT SERIES CARD

Two changes have been made to Friday's line-up for GLORY 33 NEW JERSEY Superfight Series card.

Female super-bantamweight Zoila Frausto suffered an injury in training last week and has been forced to withdraw. Her place against Germany's Daniela Graf (24-4-1, 2 KO's) has been taken by Jessica “Thumper” Gladstone (5-6, 2 KO's) of Alberta, Canada, a one-time Golden Gloves champion.

Gladstone has a Muay Thai background and has competed both domestically and internationally, including several stints in Thailand and appearances in tournament competitions staged by the widely-respected IFMA Muay Thai body.

Also forced to withdraw is Rami Ibrahim, who sustained a broken foot in what was to be one of his final training sessions before this weekend's event. His place against David Moore (6-1, 6 KO's) has been taken by GLORY veteran Kevin Vannostrand (12-1, 9 KO's), who was already set to be the reserve fighter for the Featherweight Contender Tournament and has been in training.

Gladstone and Vannonstrand will be among the fighters weighing in at today's official GLORY 33 weigh-ins, which are taking place at the Parx Casino at 8 p.m. ET. One hour earlier, at 7pm, our special guest Frankie Edgar, former UFC lightweight champion and current UFC featherweight contender, will be on hand to meet and greet fans.

GLORY 33 NEW JERSEY airs live this Friday night on ESPN 2 at 11 pm ET and is preceded by the GLORY 33 SuperFight Series, which airs live and exclusively worldwide via UFC FIGHT PASS at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Womens tournament keeps being awesome.

I'm not going to waste a lot of time time looking too deeply into it but you basically have a fighter who is about 1-10 in his last 11 fights against someone who lost on the first round of an amateur competition.

I don't know who is behind these womens fights but they are not doing a particularly good job.

The Good
+ Wilnis spanking Marcus for his cockiness.
+ Chikadze pulling the upset over Adamchuk.
+ Matt Embree making an impressive Glory debut.
+ Verhoeven not jeopardizing his fight with Badr and making quick work of Silva.
+

The Bad
- I didn't know Matt Embree so I went with what I knew as far as predictions go, but Lim Chi-Bin was the only fighter that looked out of place in this tournament. He hasn't won a single fight in Glory. Don't put him in a contender tournament.
- Justin Greskiewicz giving Marcus that weird count in the second round.
- A bush league Football match running long causing the Glory broadcast to be moved to ESPNEWS for almost an hour.
- Gerges again being on the receiving end of a bad decision. He clearly won that fight.

Honorable mention:
The cringeworthy exchange at the end of the show between Chi Lewis-Parry and Rico Verhoeven.

In conclusion, the event was sort of okay, but could have been very good without some of the above mentioned detractors that are somehow ALWAYS there with Glory. What a shame..

I missed the post fight cringe.

Solid event. 6/10, would have been 7/10 if not for Gerges being the victim of highwaymen. Marcus vs Wilnis is fight of the night for obvious reasons.

Due to most of my detractors happening during the main card I'd have to go SFS > Main Card on this one.

Wilnis was the highlight of the event for me.

GLORY 33 Draws 517,000 Viewers Live on ESPN2

GLORY's run on ESPN has most been live on ESPN3 and replayed on ESPN2 some time in the near future. That has been anywhere from a day to two days to two weeks, depending on ESPN's scheduling. On Friday night for GLORY 33, ESPN2 aired the event live. Well, there is a caveat to that, because the college football game between Louisville and Syracuse ran over and GLORY 33 was pushed to ESPNews until it was over.

That left about an hour and fifteen minutes for GLORY 33 on ESPN2 and the numbers that they pulled were the best that we've seen in quite a while with 517,000 live viewers. That means that live viewers got to see Rico Verhoeven crush Anderson Silva and Matt Embree look like a million bucks. That's not a bad way to snag viewers.
