Just finished watching all of the fights and this was yet another great K-1 Japan event. What a way to start off this weekend of fights!
- A very fast paced and competitive tournament. - I think my favorite fight was the QuarterFinal between Tobe Ryuma and Elias Mahmoudi. Two very fun fighters in a very competitive matchup and overall great fight. When I caught myself applauding at times during the fight I knew how much I was enjoying myself. The knockdown looked like more of a balance issue. Without that we might have seen an extra round which I wouldn't have minded at all. - Man what a beast Takeru has become. - Yun Qi was a welcome surprise, very fun fighter. He did seem to have some trouble adjusting to the K-1 rules though as he got a few warnings in his first fight. - I was surprised to see Kieran Keddle in Jamie Whelan's corner, had no idea where Whelan trains. - The stoppage in Dahlbeck VS Kido might have been a tad premature, but he did go down hard from what looked like a partly connected elbow and a nasty sneaky knee on his way down. Too bad as I thought Kido landed some good stuff early on.
A few nitpicks/complaints: - The low blows ruined the flow of the SemiFinal between Ozawa and Mahmoudi, namely the second one. Not only did it take Mahmoudi completely out of the fight, but it kind of puts a dent in it for me as a viewer everytime something like that happens. - I've noticed in the SemiFinals that both Ozawa and Takeru were still throwing while their opponents were well on their way to the canvas for the knockdown. The ref didn't have to pry them off or anything and you could accredit it to adrenaline/heat of the moment while throwing a combination and you see it happening all the time, but I don't like it. Fighters should have self-control.
Can't wait for the rest of the fights this weekend!

For the people who might've missed it in the news thread I have created a torrent for the event with all the fights in it (other than the Koshien and undercard stuff). It is available on mma-tracker.org via www.mma-tracker.org/details.php?id=25959Video is 360p and very watchable quality. Total filesize is 650MB. You'll need an mma-tracker account though.

Its odd. I totally expected Whelan to upset Takeru. And then I expected Yun Qi to KO him. Joke's on me for doubting him. Now I reaaaally wanna see him fight Nasukawa.
In his post-fight speech, Takeru proclaimed K-1 to be the greatest and demanded that he be on the RIZIN year end show.
