liverkick.com/index.php/rankingsLots of changes over the past four months, though not quite as many compared to the last update. It's still funny to see Cédric Doumbé ranked in two weightclasses. Good to see that two of the K-1 95kg tournament participants - Kwasi and Kujundžić - are ranked quite high, even though Kwasi's ranking is at HW. Fighters that dropped out of the top 10 (per weightclass): - Samedov dropped from HW rankings. - Cairo dropped from LHW rankings. - Bian dropped from MW rankings. - Jinbin dropped from WW rankings. - Gogokhia, Yodsaenklai and Askerov dropped from LW rankings. - Soda, Kubo, Adamchuk, Liang dropped from FW rankings. BTW I like that you're using a legend now, saved me a bit of work! Tavares needs a marker as well though as he too dropped a spot.

Surprised to see Gonnapar not on there. Granted he wasn't a super big name in KB before the Yamazaki win, but I would have thought that if a direct win vs. a top name gives you a top ranking (e.g. Superbon shooting up to #1 after beating Sittichai) the same thing would happen with him.
Good that Gerges is back in there. Sucky that Guto is above him because SPINNING SHIT > damage.
Something odd going on with the Kunlun 65kg as well. It was a legit field, but the most potent fighter in it (Petch) eliminated the 2nd best (Yamato), and dropped out from the tournament due to injury before anyone could make their name off of him. Presumably, three guys who were in that tournament is ranked because Kim Minsoo stole Glunder's rank, then was in turn had his rank stolen by Ezbiri, whose rank was then in turn stolen by Wei. That seems to be waaay too convoluted a chain. Wei is legit for sure, but who has he actually beaten to justify being 4 ranks above Varga? Prob his best win besides Ezbiri in this span is Mizuochi, a guy who probably would be a reserve on the K-1 Japan reserve tournament.
I mean, if you're gonna account for tournaments in that way, wouldn't you also want to rank Chris Embree for defeating Giga who defeated Adamchuk?

Good rankings overall. I would have put Gerges a bit higher too. Gonnapar's win was kinda weird with the leg injury and all, and he is dropping weight classes so its not too bad to not have him. That Wei Ninghui guy is a beast and I could see him blitzing through guys like Glunder, Kimura, and maybe Varga.

Pereira should probably be ranked higher, he beat Adesanya and Adesanya doesn't have any win since to rank him higher? Couple other things maybe too El Boustati getting ranked 5th off a BS win from a guy on a 3 fight losing streak rubs me the wrong way so much even if it probably makes sense within how the rankings are made. Guess I'll wait for the explanation post I mean, if you're gonna account for tournaments in that way, wouldn't you also want to rank Chris Embree for defeating Giga who defeated Adamchuk? If the fight had been earlier probably. I'm assuming on the timeline Adamchuk was dropped out of the top10 before the tournament so tough cookies for Embree. Good rankings overall. I would have put Gerges a bit higher too. Wouldn't have Gerges ranked at all :/

Gerges won against Guto so he should definitely be ranked.

I agree; Gerges got screwed hard enough to justify him being ranked. I feel Inocente has no place that high in the top 10 to begin with. I realize the Douwes win is what got him up there at the time, but it just doesn't feel right.

Verlinden got screwed, Jianliang got screwed etc. etc.
Boustati is ranked higher than Inocente for example and he didn't win that fight even if he they gave him the decision.

Oh yeah, lots of people get screwed and I'm not saying we should disregard results, just because we didn't like the decision. Thing is, Gerges was at the bad end of a decision in a (high) ranking fight two times in a row now within a timespan of three months, so yeah at a certain point I'd say it's a good thing to at least take into consideration. Boustati is ranked higher than Inocente for example and he didn't win that fight even if he they gave him the decision. Sure, you can definitely make a case for him being way too high up there. I still have less of a problem with his rank than Guto though. It all comes down to the criteria applied though. Often a rank 'feels' wrong, but can be justified by the criteria.

I really do want to see the explanations but some things to me just don't make sense.
Samedov is out of the rankings despite being "active" and won his last fight. Gerges gets ranked 9th from 2 losses over Gerasimchuk who is coming off of at least like 3 wins (Kunlun 2016 HW tournament champ).
Iftimoaie I think retired.
70kg's I'd have to look way more into but I'm not sure how Jauncey is still ranked. He doesn't have a top10 win ever and Yod strictly speaking hasn't been inactive for 12 months yet either :/ I would probably have Claudiu Badoi or someone there instead. Askerov lost to Baitar who lost to Badoi in Kunlun 1night. Same ranking logic as with Xuesong or the FW's from Kunlun. And I like all the Jauncey's but IMO he needs a win to be in the rankings.
Schilling lost to Kato! Fang Bian hasn't lost AFAIK and is active, on some crazy 35 or 45 fight win streak. He has at least 2 wins this year. One over some Iranian in March I think and another over some German Sept 10 in Wu Lin Feng. I don't know if Schilling shouldn't be ranked or not but I can't see how he could possibly stay in the rankings with a loss over Bian who has wins.

Ugh...took a look at Glory's ranking again to check something and just...ugh. #6 Adesanya (0-1) #7 Roberson (0-2) #8 Belgaroui (0-0) #9 Verlinden (5-6) #10 Pereira (2-2) Jauncey over Moiseev, Yodkhunpon over Petrosyan. Zhuravlev ranked above Machado who beat him, and Hameur-Lain who beat Machado is under them both How is that even... Inocente (3-0) is below Kornilov (0-1) and Gerges (2-4) Glory rankings really are something. Doesn't matter how much social media following or whatever you'd consider none of those make any sense in Glory results or overall results.

By the criteria of the article Ionut Iftimoaie shouldn't be ranked since it was his retirement fight.

Do you know what other kinds of chaos that'll cause in that division? That chain that you have is, indeed, what we were thinking. It sucks, but that's how these were conceived like seven years ago, going back because they yield shit results would feel wrong at this point.
