Conceivably the last kickboxing show on Eurosport. End of an era. At least when it comes to live and "whole" Eurosport wide shows.
If there was no Eurosport I wouldn't be following the sport, would've probably never really seen it to begin with.

Conceivably the last kickboxing show on Eurosport. End of an era. At least when it comes to live and "whole" Eurosport wide shows. If there was no Eurosport I wouldn't be following the sport, would've probably never really seen it to begin with. My story is similar. I was already into kickboxing as a sport before I really started following events and promotions, but I REALLY got into it around late 2002/early 2003 when K-1 events would air regularly on EuroSport. I'd say 2003-2008 was my personal golden age with "Fight Club" on EuroSport, covering K-1 events when it still reigned supreme. Watching a K-1 event two or three weeks after it happened (which was relatively soon at the time) on TV with Fred Royers commentating was just epic to me. Funny thing is what really got me into it was when the whole Bob Sapp circus got some local Dutch media coverage. The spectacle is what caught my attention, watching quality events are what got me hooked. I really don't like what EuroSport has turned into over the past years. I'd say it was already steadily going downhill as early as 2008-2009 when you sometimes had to wait months for big K-1 events to air and it had been covered by other Dutch networks on the day of the event itself. The only thing that kept me coming back to EuroSport was the live coverage of SuperKombat and some other promotions, but to me it already felt like a shell of what it once was, even more so with the quality of SuperKombat events really going downhill after 2012. Guess I'll be skipping EuroSport completely in the immediate future. The definitive end of an era.
