I know it's not really serious competition, but didn't Kohi have stress fractures in his hips that stopped him from even training?

Apparently Kuliaba and Stetsurenko were at that Savate thing too. Too bad they barely put any info out. Winners got 30k euros again so not too bad. If anyone speaks French and wants a fight job: www.bkscc.com/job/index.php/Index/show/aid/1004/I guess this whole thing is some bet on Savate being shown at the Paris olympics or something like that. Can't really understand it otherwise, or I mean could be the usual rich dude throwing money into a pit thing too.

He was plagued with a bunch of injuries when he was a competitor, but he seems to have recovered a bit. He was doing exhibitions and prowrestling even after stopping doing real fights for a while. He seems to be doing a lot of hands on instruction at his gym as well. His training regimen back in the day was absolutely crazy (and not in a good way) so not a wonder why he was always so injured. I can translate an article where he talks about his training if you're interested.

J-MAX used to be one of the highlights of the year Yuya vs Kohi was a fantastic fight. Pity that that way of fighting caught up with Yuya, but he seems to be making a decent recovery too. He now has his own dojo and his little brother has been tearing it up in Krush. Part of an interview he did with Dropkick back in 2014 There's a lot more like this (including a particularly gruesome incident where he got his nose broken but was barred from using anesthetic for the surgery, but you get the picture.

Wow, what the fuck. When you said crazy but not in a good way I assumed you meant that he was one of those guys that trains so hard he crumbles to dust, not that he did that but was also in some kind of fucked up asexual 50 shades of the karate kid relationship.
And who's Yuya's brother? Naoki?

And who's Yuya's brother? Naoki? Long time no see, Rictor. Naoki joined Yuya's new dojo and turned his career around from starting 1-3-1 to winning 5 in a row in Krush and K-1 prelims. Also this thing with Enfusion seems to be getting a bit of traction in reddit now.

Kunlun 68 HW tournament quarterfinals Jairo Kusunoki vs Asihati Iraj Azizpour vs. Ye Xiang Felipe Micheletti vs. Liu Junchao Roman Kryklia vs. Ning Tianshuai 5/8 Asian HW's which is a bit in that K-1 HW territory Kryklia, Ye Xiang and Micheletti are good at least though. Not a huge fan of his but Asihati is always a lock being in these and him and Kusunoki are 1W1L each so guess they have to settle that... One of the more meh thing in kickboxing how Kunlun just has to keep Asihati around and have a load of boring fights. He had a 3 fight streak in 2016 where the average age of his opponents was like 42, they went out and found 2 retired fighters for him to fight. Also had 3 sweaty, sloppy, low blow-y, fights with Banks. None of them any good, and they had a 4th one scheduled for this event. Banks not currently listed for the event anymore at least. Don't know much about the 2 other Chinese HW's but they are Chinese HW's not named Ye Xiang or maybe Taishan Dong so odds aren't in their favour. Hopefully, if he wins, Kunlun can juggle Ye Xiang and the Sanda gang and are actually able to keep him in the tournament beyond the quarterfinals. Maybe we'll finally see how he does in kickboxing Gerasimchuk currently not listed but before on fb they said he'd be in so who knows what the final tournament lineup might be exactly. Something that is currently listed, which would be quite nice, but apparently isn't happening. Kyshenko vs. Bokeme Kunlun MMA phenom Weili Zhang in a 8 woman one nighter, a very interesting move from her. Largely a noname tournament other than her though.

Unlike you Shadess, I have absolutely no compulsions against watching Kryklia 1RKO some flabby Asians. Some Krush fights were announced for Jan 27nd (which features Jordan Pikeur vs Yamauchi Yutaro). I guess the highlight here is that Nakajima Hiroki is still alive after running chin first into Chingiz Allazov and fighting Jinbo Katsuya. Japan just doesn't have any real 70kg fighters these days unfortunately.

Once I looked into it a bit more there are a couple more things to be hopeful of! Azizpour beat Gerasimchuk at IFMAs this year. If I remember correctly he mostly pushed him around than owned him with his boxing or anything. Still ended it with a punch. Lost to Rogava in the finals. Tianshuai then apparently placed 2nd at the Chinese Sanda champs behind Ye Xiang so having the top 2 current Sanda guys isn't too bad. Read a 3-page thread of mostly jokes about how long till they pull out of the event though Rogava was also in another version of the tournament matchups so maybe he'll sub in if and when the Sanda dudes start dropping out. Still wish Gerasimchuk was in there too since he is the HW in Kunlun.

Oh in other China news. Henan TV in HD from today onwards so maybe no more 4:3 SD porridge streams of Wu Lin Feng.

I saw this pop up on Facebook a few months ago and screencapped it, but forgot to share it. Great little story that shows Alistair Overeem is more than just a guy who tends to come across arrogant in interviews.

Overeem is a legit good guy. He's around town here training occasionally and everyone that's dealt with him has had nothing but good things to say about him.
I invited him over to play UFC 2 at one point and he laughed, but then actually tried to make it happen.
