Edit: Console Wars just came out yesterday. Just watched it and it was pretty good! There are some stylistic similarities to High Score, but there is no dynamic topic jumping and just a little bit of date jumping, but those jumps are marked pretty clearly on screen. It's 90 minutes and the majority of that is dedicated to Sega vs. Nintendo during the 16-bit era. As expected the focus is pretty much on the American market since that's where the battle was fought most competitively and aggressively. There is not a lot of focus on technical developments or sales figures, but mostly on marketing strategies and Sega's underdog position. What I liked and what was kinda new to me is that there is still this sort of slight animosity between the former higher ups at Sega and Nintendo who were at the helm of the American branches at the time. There was also this kind of divide between Sega of Japan and Sega of America which has been mentioned in previous documentaries, but now much more than ever gave me the impression that things might've gone differently had both branches been on the same frequency. After the first 50 minutes or so the doc loses a little bit of focus and moves from one topic to the next a lot faster than the first large one. It's still pretty much about Sega vs. Nintendo, but there are also bits and pieces on Sony and the Playstation for example. The documentary kind of relies on the viewer to fill in a lot of the gaps for what's left out, but to be fair I do think something like this probably won't be watched by someone who has no interest in video games.

Same here.
Most people here know I care very little for online gaming and eSports, but fighting games are among my exceptions.
Here's hoping it'll be more than just a patched version of Virtua Fighter 5.

I was browsing the TV guide after work today (I still watch linear TV) and was surprised to see a video game documentary being scheduled on the History Channel of all places. It's called Game Changers: Inside The Video Game Wars and it ended up being really good!
The first, larger section is about Atari (vs. Magnavox) and the second one is about Nintendo (vs. Sega).
Especially the Atari portion contains a bunch of stuff I wasn't aware of and I can definitely recommend it.
Such a strange, but cool coincidence bumping into that.

Definitely seeing this as somewhat of an experiment to gauge interest in the franchise.
At worst it will be a barebones port of VF5 with some basic online/compatibility patches thrown in, at best we get some cool extra's like the game being able to run in 4K natively.
The next step, of course, would be a full blown VF 6. From what I've read around the internet, some people speculate that's actually what we're getting from this announcement, but I'd be more cautious with my expectations.
Either way exciting times for gamers, at least.

Like some of you guys I'm a big fan of retro gaming and h's NES collecting inspired me to do a little retro related project myself. I was lucky enough to grow up during the Game Boy era and I remember dragging my Game Boy Color everywhere. It may be my favorite handheld of all time, but its one weakness was that it didn't have a backlit screen. Fast forward to 2020 where you can do pretty much anything and the retro/modding scene has found plenty after market solutions for the GBC's screen. Unfortunately I don't have my original GBC anymore, but I found a good looking Japanese one on eBay. In addition to the handheld itself I needed a backlit screen and replacement housing to have the GBC match the color scheme of my Nintendo Switch. Fast forward a couple of weeks waiting for parts from all around the world to arrive and some tinkering and here we are: The Game Boy Color 'Light'. As for the tiny game box to the right, I created that based on a template shared by a cool YouTuber who does game room solutions. It's just big enough to hold a cartridge with plastic housing and contains a flash cart with pretty much all the games that ever released for the system. I fully intend to buy a bunch of original games, but this should help me decide on which ones to get. Oh, I also got a little piece of tech that allows me to (over)write my own cartridges in case I ever get to creating my own game using GB Studio. Maybe one day, in the future...

Thank you, sir.
The happy bright yellow of the case is such a stark contrast to when I'm beating people to a pulp in Mortal Kombat.

It's been a while since I've played a Point & Click adventure. Most recent ones were The Darkside Detective on Steam and the HD version of Grim Fandango on PS4; both roughly 2 years ago, both awesome.
I've looked up what's out there and found this nice compilation video from 2019:
It truly is the era of indie developers. All these games look fun and unique.
Any other Point & Click fans out there with recommendations?
