Seems harsh to fire him after losing tbh. Fire him for breach of contract for taking the fight if that was actually against their agreement. What does it matter if he won or loss? Makes it look like GLORY is trying to save face

I mean, it is in their contracts that you can't accept outside fights without approval.
It does make sense if he won to just maybe dock his pay or something the next time he fights.

Glory has fucked Ilunga over many times over the years. Just off the top of my head:
- The extremely premature stoppage against Spong - Screwing Ilunga out of title shots when he was next in line on more than one occasion - Gifting Vakhitov the decision when Ilunga clearly won that fight
So I'd say he should have built up some credit by now. It seems like they were just looking for a way to get rid of him since clearly they don't have the best relationship.
While Ilunga has made some stupid decisions (mainly in the way he approaches fights), luck certainly hasn't been on his side these past few years.

So apparently RvR is a full time MMA fighter now?

So apparently RvR is a full time MMA fighter now? Lol. They really couldn't pay him enough, apparently. I assume he'll end up in UFC shortly. If they took Saki no problem RvR has way more of an upside.

Damn, hope there's a way for the public to chip in at some point

Hopefully!

Glory really seems to be having trouble keeping some of their main guys. Wonder if it's just them not wanting to pay championship salaries when RvR/Holzken weren't champs anymore or what.

Damn, hope there's a way for the public to chip in at some point I don't mean to be that guy, but spending $20,000 on that is ill-advised. There's a reason why any attempt at doing this before has failed and it has to do with the sport being niche, it not being worth the time and effort and that the sport is so fragmented and weird that coming up with complete, accurate stats is difficult.

He might just being following Adesanya's example.
Robin already went there, did that. Of course UFC is the natural path for him, if he has some skill in grappling.
Maybe he can make the UFC 65.8KG weightclass, that's heavier than Glory 65 KG limit. It may be the perfect weightclass for him.I can see him beating the crap out of Holloway. Not sure about his takedown defense. In the 70KG limit the wrestlers may be a little bit to much for him.
Wish him good luck

It's always been a wrestler-heavy division. I hope that he does well, but this is another blow for kickboxing.

Looks like Ghita's next opponent will be Petr Vondracek. While I respect Vondracek as a K-1 OG from the early 2000s era, it feels so weird to see Ghita do these 'comedic video's' where he mocks Morosanu and Adegbuyi yet he fights guys who are long past their prime. I get it: ring rust, limitations of the promoter etc. but still..

Ghita keeps insulting Morosanu for the opponents he brings in to fight him and then he fights a 41 years old Vondracek? The hypocrisy is big with Ghita. I still believe his plan for his last 1-2 years of fighting is to get easy fights and gather as much attention as possible for the next elections. We will see if i am right or not.

K-1 held another great show, which means that it's time to senselessly tear itself apart due to some dumb behind the scenes bullshit

K-1 held another great show, which means that it's time to senselessly tear itself apart due to some dumb behind the scenes bullshit The fact that you're stepping down after a successful two years scaling the company right after you showed sympathy for Takeru wanting to fight Tenshin doesn't sound like a shadowy coup at all. Anyhows. Please don't screw up K'festa 2
