Such a weird move by the UFC, for me anyways. In a fantasy world where I ran the UFC I would try and keep all current top guys at least if it didn't mean straight up losing money on paying them. You can plainly see ONE wants to do a bigger push now for 2019, why let them get anything at all from you? And trading in the middle of their contracts?
I get that DJ isn't exactly the biggest money maker for them but why would you legitimize ONE like this...dooon't get it. Or I mean if it's just to keep up with the narrative of MMA not being monopolized by them for the lawsuit then ok, but other than that at least makes no sense.

DJ should be a expensive guy to keep with low income return.
With the new administration, the guys who call the shots in the UFC may not be fight nerds anymore. Now is mainly the show.
That's why you can afford lose Macdonald and Mousassi.
That's good news for the competitors though.

i don't know either. lol. i tried to piece together stuff but nothing makes much sense. i know hardcores would be interested in gsp vs askren but why would anyone care what the hardcores want. they want to make money.

I understand it's all about money, but part of me is heartbroken that the loudest assholes are the hottest commodities while a great champion like DJ gets traded like a duplicate baseball card.

Derrick Lewis is bucking the trend. hes not an asshole. hes just loud and has hot balls. and hes loved and getting a title shot.

Being loud isn't by defintion bad, of course. Lewis does seem like a cool dude.
A cool dude, with hot balls.

A bit rough to see Liddell move as slow as he did and realise Ortiz can probably end this when and how he wants.
As long as Liddell didn't sustain any lasting damage and this was a one time thing for him to earn some money it's okay I guess.
On a more positive note something I did like, and this might have to do with this being under Golden Boy, is that the presentation felt like a big boxing event.

it clearly looked like ortiz didn't want to finish chuck right away and took it easy on him. He could have finished him at any moment if he wanted. Chuck moved like a broken robot.

Anderson Silva vs Israel Adesanya Feb 9.
You have to give credit to Anderson. I thought we would not take that fight.
