That lunging right to the body from Gerges looks like it could get him in big trouble

This is shocking an actually entertaining, back and forth heavy weight fight. I didn't realize that was even a thing in the 2010's.

That doesn't excuse such a low quality fight even making the card. You can rationalize it as much as you want, some awful decisions were made concerning the main card. It boggles my mind how anyone can defend this. It boggles my mind how someone can be so consistently negative and miserable about something that's supposed to be entertainment and an enjoyable pastime, but there you are yet again. Makes me happy to be me and not you since I'm enjoying myself and making money with the card on top of it. Well I'm glad you're enjoying it, but the 4 fights before this main event were frustrating because the booking has been so much better by the same organisation on the same card.

Hesdy dropping his mouthguard twice is a bad look in round 2. As is the sudden disappearance of the open scoring just for this main event. I'm not a conspiracy guy, but Glory is not doing themselves any favors if this goes to a contentious decision.

Lets be real here, the judges have long since switched to "popcorn viewing" mode, content that this one's not going to a decision for one reason or another

Very good fight and indeed it goes to a decision. Badr won round 3 for me and at least one of the first two rounds so he should get it imho. Very smart that he came in leaner as he had more energy than Hesdy at the end.

I think Badr takes it by a slight margin.

Don't think I agree with 30-27 Hari. He was staggering in the 1st after the low kick.

This was a very good fight! Yeah, I enjoyed it. Interesting to see Badr body kicking when confronted with a high guard instead of slinging massive hooks. I hope he has a bit more of a regular schedule, I know they're itching to do the Rico rematch but I'd be interested in seeing him against JBS or Adegbuyi.

Glory 51 - Rotterdam Heavyweight Headline Bout: Badr Hari defeats Hesdy Gerges by Unanimous Decision Welterweight Tournament Final Bout: Eyevan Danenberg defeats Thongchai Sitsongpeenong by Unanimous Decision Heavyweight Co-Headline Bout: Tomas Mozny defeats Daniel Skvor by Unanimous Decision Welterweight Tournament Semifinal Bout B: Eyevan Danenberg defeats Jimmy Vienot by Split Decision Welterweight Tournament Semifinal Bout A: Thongchai Sitsongpeenong defeats Alan Scheinson by Split Decision
Comments after the Main Card: Why was only the main fight good?
+ Badr Hari vs. Hesdy Gerges - Not only was it good, but it was better than I expected.
- Once more being confronted with the undeniable reality that someone who has decision power at Glory said "Mozny vs. Skvor is our Co-Headliner for this event!" - Sitsongpeenong vs. Scheinson after the first round - Another subpar tournament being shoved down our throats that had no place occupying 60% of the main card. It's like nobody at Glory realizes how much these actually hurt the quality of their overall product.
Which again leads to one of the bigger recurring issues with Glory events. While individually the cards had more or less decent pacing, there's a big problem here: When you watch the whole event with both cards back to back - like most of us do - going from the SFS' main event to the first fight of the main card tends to feel like a huge step down in quality, because that's exactly what it is. I'm not even going into the issue that SFS cards often end up being better than the main cards.
I'll be blunt: Other than Badr vs. Hesdy, the main card was bad. It completely destroyed the momentum and goodwill that was built up by the very decent SFS card. Unfortunately, my reservations ended up being completely justified.
On a sidenote: The Rotterdam police tweeted that a few dozen crowd members got into two separate fights in and outside of the venue. I couldn't have thought of a more fitting end to this post.

Its odd to see Badr so mellow.
Still a decent event! Looking forward to Krush next week, K-1 the week after and G52 after that

In spite of the majority of the main card being absolute bogus it ended on a strong note and I enjoyed discussing it in this thread with you guys.
Thanks for joining, everybody!
