I haven't watched it and knowing how it ended I probably won't.
While it would make us fans who worry more comfortable if he just retired, fighters - or more generally speaking, athletes - aren't exactly famous for knowing when to quit.
Nowadays I have mixed feelings on it and it warrants a case-by-case analysis. Let's look at CroCop: Age 43 and really just a shadow of the fighter he was in 2006.
He had mixed results in the UFC and I've mentioned more than once that he should just retire already.
Here's the thing though: Mirko is still consistently winning fights. He's 9-1 in his last 10 MMA fights AND 9-1 in his last 10 kickboxing fights. Some of those wins even came against opponents of reasonable quality within the last few years.
Mirko himself said that a lot of his losses came from persistent injuries and while I've first brushed it off as excuses, I somewhat buy it at this point. If a guy like him wants to keep fighting and manages to avoid getting slaughtered I say keep doing what makes you happy.
Now, if a fighter starts getting KO'd left and right there and still keep fighting a la Gary Goodridge, I feel there should be some sort of law to protect these people against themselves. And even then there's always some way around it like just fighting in another promotion or country. Ideally, friends and family should convince someone about what's best for them, but that doesn't always work out, because a: some people just don't care and/or b: some people are too stubborn for their own good.

Sucks about the Reem.
I am quite ecstatic that Colby Covington won what's technically an UFC belt. Not because I appreciate his shtick at all, but because he is the logical extension of the UFC's banality and just what the fanbase deserves
Watching shitty MMA to own da libtards!!! Wooo!
