This event had good fights top to bottom and would have gotten a glowing endorsement from me if it wasn't for the whole Murthel Groenhart/Harut Grigorian situation, which put a huge dent in the event as a whole and doesn't make Glory look good at all.
For who doesn't know what I'm talking about, have a look:
Murthel knocked Harut out while he had his back turned after a knee. Harut's teammates/relatives jump in to assault Murthel and according to what's currently going around the internet Murthel's jaw is broken. I will say this; While perfectly legal, attacking an opponent who has his back turned is a bit dirty. Having said that, this is fighting, there is a lot of adrenaline involved and had the tables been turned Harut might have done the same thing. If anything fishy is going on it's up to the ref to address it and never the cornermen. Glory should make an example out of team Harut and ban them all - including Harut - for an unspecified period, but as Harut has Nick Hemmers in his corner I don't expect anything will happen other than maybe some people getting a tap on the wrist. It's a disgrace that shit like this can still happen.
Some notes: - While there did seem to be a decent crowd present at the venue, some shots showed large areas being completely empty. - during the Doumbé/Holzken fight the crowd in the front had to be reminded to sit down again. Why are European crowds among the absolute worst trash in the world? Because it really isn't just the (Dutch)Moroccan Badr fanboys.

To avoid having the same discussion twice I will post my clarification here as well. I will say this; While perfectly legal, attacking an opponent who has his back turned is a bit dirty. Personally, i do not agree with with this. I agree with samurai, this is top level kickboxing, there is a title shot on the line. I would've done the same in this situation. Why would i give him the chance to recover? If he feels he needs a timeout, he should take a knee, get an 8 count and get your self checked. Or if you want to avoid the 8 count, just drop your mouth piece, you will only be warned the first time you do it. If you're rocked or disoriented, you may not be able to think as far ahead as to take a knee or spit out your mouth piece. Maybe the ref should have acted a bit quicker and call a break and this whole situation could have been avoided. I agree that there probably isn't a solution to situations like these that will satisfy everyone and sometimes shit just happens, but I still think in a situation like this one, attacking someone who has his back turned is a little questionable even if it is perfectly legal. It's not like Harut was taunting Murthel or turning his back is part of his fighting style. Also, I did say that this is a fight and Harut might have done the same thing if the tables were turned so I can definitely understand where the counter argument is coming from. It's just my personal opinion on it. Regardless on where you stand on the matter, I think we can all agree that anyone other than the referee jumping in is unacceptable. I don't know about banning team Harut. Wasn't Nick Hemmers pulling off the people who rushed Groenhart? Yes he was, but I feel Glory needs to make an example here even if it means punishment by association. Promotions need to be on zero tolerance, especially in Europe where things seem to go out of hand more often than anywhere else. Don't worry though, there won't be any serious consequences here, there rarely are. Especially when it's popular teams/fighters involved.

Oh well at least it's not on the same day.
And damn, Murthel getting death threats? I mean I'm sure it's nothing serious, but still.
