Japan is literally the only place in the world that would make sense to you as a destination now. Will you pay the flight?

No, she doesn't have a point. She's a freak and that's it.

Serious question: Has any one of you ever put on the extra mile to tell someone to put the fucking mask on? It kinda does't make sense that in a "Random Rant" thread, this isn't more of an issue, even though it was/should be a thing for the last 2 and a half years.

I'm a fan of good stuff, not of any specific genre. Like?

Are you a fan of Black Metal now?

but am very much aware that the musicianship can be absurdly high over there. There are some truly phenomenal instrumentalists in that world. It is. Because most people do it just because of passion. For most, there is no money in it at all. Passion is always a good driver. When it comes to "intrusmentalist" though, there might be a a debate. There are guys like Buckethead, who is considered a great guitarist... but I would never listen to him. Then there is stuff like this:
Heavily influenced by Black Metal, but certainly something of it's own. You either feel it or not. Seriously though, Black Metal has influenced so many artists.

Indeed. A lot of people turned to Noise, because that's "heavy" for them. Isn't there a Japanese Noise scene, too? I kinda remember that, but that's really not my cup of tea.

"Spritually different" isn't so wrong. It's a a differenet mindset. Most Death Metal is about gore and wicked fantasies, where as Black Metal is more about religion, nature, depression and other rather serious topics.
Obviously, they have a lot in common. But if you listen to the "grunts" of Cannibal Corpse, it's certainly different to the screams of the band posted above. BM is also more raw and led by emotion, where as Death Metal tends to be technical, even resulting in such subgenres as Technincal Death Metal or - worst of all - Math Death Metal.
It's okay if you say that they are "less heavy" - to each their own. I don't think so. This reminds me of Peter Steele, who once said that nothing can be heeavier than "War Pigs" from Black Sabbath. Well, especially in those crazy times... I can't disagree.

I've heard my fair share of hateful Punk/Crust/Metal. As far as pure hate, this might take the cake. What a hateful piece of shit:
Death Metal is shit like Cannibal Corpse.
You understand the diffference now?

I still don't really know the difference between Black Metal and Death Metal. This, for example, is Black Metal:

So it went to decsion after all. I haven't seen the fight, is the controversy about Hari getting prolonged 8 counts in the third round justified?
