To be fair, we always watched the K-1 stuff "illegal". But this is 2022. There should be other ways.

That's why I just stopped watching "K-1" (as if) altogeher. I'd like to, I would easily pay like 10 bucks a month to watch the Krush/K-1 events, but if they make it extra hard, why should I even care? They obvioulsy don't care. YouTube content also only cares about the Japanese crowd... so be it.

I thought I was more than ready for Roger Federer's retirement, but man. I wept like a fucking baby for five minutes. The end of an era.

Obviously the filmmakers wanted to mess with you, and it seems that you have been sufficiently messed with, lol. It's probably one of those "Well, we will portray our villain as a bit of a sympathetic character despite their horrible ideology, and if you DO sympathize with them because of the way we portray them, well, that says a lot about you" movie. Oh, I considered this lol. You'd have to watch the movie though. It is certainly more than "let's make óur vilian look symphatetic ".
The victims barely got to say something and were portrayed very negatively all around, where as Biel's character had a big monolouge to defend her actions, how the system is broke and it's all the fault of politicians. Also, as I said, they made sure to show that her man wasn't taking any money from the adoptive parents. The last scene then shows a girl (who is already 17 years old and got kidnapped voluntarily though), how she enjoys her new life, running around college campus, getting told to not be late to art class by her new mother etc. She did question her decision though for a little. Weird scene. Yeah, it is kinda hard to imagine that filmmakers would entertain such ideologies, but that's how it comes across almost 100 %. So either way, I still feel my angry feelings were justified. Not to mention the ridiculouness of the whole scenario. If you ever watch the movie (again, it's still not really a bad one, actually quit the opposite), tell me what you think.

So I need to rant about a movie here that I just watched today. The movie is called "The Tall Man" (2012), and just to get two things straight out of the way: 1. There will be spoilers, so if you want to watch it, do it now. 2. The "Tall Man" has nothing to do with the antagonist of the franchice "Phantasm". This is already super confusing, because there are some certain similarities and I had to Google it before I was watching the movie, to make sure there wasn't a connection. The movie seems to had a terrible marketing campaign to begin with, as there were even references to Slender Man, which makes even less sense. This is NOT a horror movie. At least not your typical one. The thing that triggers me so badly is how I'm torn between actually watching a good movie and the terrible, ridicilous, FUCKED UP ending... or I should rather say premise, maybe even morality? First things first though, and let's start with the positive: The cinematography is really good. We're in some small town in the state of Washington that has seen better days. The mining company has closed its doors and there is a lot of unemployment and desperation. The story basically starts with a family that drives up with their car to our protagonist heroine, who is a nurse, who now must assist giving birth to one of the family's girls baby, a pregnancy that was undiscovered so far, apparently. Turns out it was the step dad who impregnated the young girl. The mother of the girl, acutally not such a bad person, couldn't/can't do anything about it, as he is also very violent. Long story short: We're dealing with White Trash/Rednecks here in that town. The special thing about this town is that over the years many kids have been gone missing. 18 so far. Up to the point they were coming up with an urban legend of "The Tall Man", who walks around the woods and kidnaps children. Our nurse, Jennifer, played wonderfully by Jessica Biel, has a son of 3 or 4 years age, is a widow and lives along with another female in a house. Her late husband was the doctor of the town and was highly respected. She is unbelievable sympathetic, emphatic - the angel of town. Now let's get straight to it: Her son isn't her son. She kidnapped him. She kidnapped all of the other 18 kids, too (actually a pretty decent plot twist, I might add). The towns people find out and want to lynch her, because they think she killed them. You really might guess what the next plot twist is at this point, because it is coming from a mile away: She indeed kidnapped them, but for a "good reason". Her husband is stil alive and he's taking these kids, so that he can organise an adoption on the black market to richer and more privileged people. Why? Because now they can live a better life and get a higher education. So that's where the movie lost me. First off; stealing kids to try to make them "better" citiziens? Does that remind you of something? Like, for example, Aboriginies in Australia or natives in Canada? But even if you don't want to take the moral high ground, what kind of sense does that even make??? They were upper class people in that town, the nurse and the doctor. If they wanted to change something, maybe... but just maybe, they could have done something else than LITERALLY terrorize the whole town for years by kidnapping young kids? Some charity stuff? Political involvement? Maybe some fucking coaching to get them to college? Not all parents, portrayed there, were even that bad. Can you even imagine what it means, if your kid gets kidnapped and you don't know whether they are still alive or not? What about the siblings, grand parents, aunts, uncles, friends (okay, not such a problem if the kids are only 3-4 years old)? It must be said that Jennifer remained silent, thus only getting life (no death penalty, because no bodys were found, obviously), now sitting in prison and is for always known as a serial killer, while her husband is still doing his human traffcking thing. She is really sad behind the bars and he makes it clear that he's not taking money for it, at least !! What I'm trying to say: They were portrayed as martyrs. That so rubbed me the wrong way. Then again, I have to say that there are few movies that made me think so much about them. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe I need to watch it again. Yes, it pissed me off, it made me do this rant... but maybe, there was some underlying message that I didn't understand. But for now, FOR NOW, this is my rant.. because that movie just pissed me off.

I watched the whole thing. Pretty good event top to bottom. Gane vs. Tai was REALLY good. Crazy fight.
Another highlight for me was Fares Ziam. I'll make the prediction that he will be in title contention in a few years. He showed some real good striking and grappling (something he wasn't known for) against the Polish favourite Figlak. He is tall and lanky (and big for LW), actually quit reminded of Hari in there.
Also, Whittaker looked really solid against Vettori. Even though I'm not really a fan of Vettori and his skills. MW is just pretty weak at the moment. Which, of course, has also to do with Adesanya's dominance over the division.

Well, since my snapshot provocated two lenghty replies, I might as well answer. First off, that wasn't really my intention. It really was just that I got that concert recommended, thought I might be open minded and listen to it, then I fast forwarded and that's what I got. Since we briefly touched on RATM before, I thought I might as well just post it. Actually, I ended up watching a Limp Bizkit concert from Mexico (also from 2022) where I literally wondered for at least 5 minutes whether or not that is really fucking Fred Durst:
Yeah, it's him. To be totally honest, I'd rather not - even though everyone's doing it - talk so much about American politics. Reason is, well, I was never even there. So you guys apparently know more about all that. Just chatting a bit.. IF I won a free plane ticket to the US and could choose my destination, I would pick Providence. Because of Lovecraft. Period. Well, I read that the city is not even close to what he used to describe it, but still. I'd love to go into the wild over there, the woods of Providence. Then, maybe, New York City, as it it close by. However, after watching Se7en, Joker, Gargoyles (anyone remembers THAT show??), or even that Simpson episode where Homer gets mad in NYC, I'd probably be quit afraid of visiting that hell of a city. But that's the thing. Media always focuses on the bad things, is fear mongering. I'm sure that city can be pretty nice. I'm sure America is a nice country, for the most part. Misc once said something along the lines of that America is the least (or one of the least) racist countries in the world. And I believe that. A police reform sounds great. Who would be against that? Most likely not an easy task in such a big ass country with all its problems, but it needs to be done, because some cops are just out of their mind. I just think it could probably happen without the "fuck da police" attitude. Hate always creates more hate. That kinda reminds me of how recently two activists, where my mom works, glued themself to a painintg, because of climate... or something. Nobody really knows. Same with these activits in Germany who block the roads, even the highways, risking their and others life. I mean, if you want to change the people's mind on climate change, which is not a bad idea at all, woudn't you want to win them over? They don't win ANYBODY over. Everyone's just shaking their head at this stupidity. And that's why I also don't like to see thousands of party people going nuts on a burning police car. As far as your rockstar friend goes.. well, I can't really say too much about it obviously. If they are such a big band, you might as well just said their name and I could do my own research. That kinda reminds me of (warning: another useless anecdote incoming) one of my favourite bands, Agalloch. So the leader of the band was apparently a fan of that actor who played Hitler in "Der Untergang". When he died, he somehwat - and for some reason - complained that Facebook would censor news about that and posted something like "Jewbook" (in respone to Zuckerberg's religion). Doesn't even make sense, but the other members quickly left him and created a new band. So my theory was just that they wanted to get rid of him anyway and simply used this as an opportunity. Not sure if that was similar to your friends rejection. But honestly, nobody should get fired for simply stating that not all cops are bad, you know.

Quit a bit over 1 Trillion $ was lost on the stock market after Powell's hawkish speech.
Why I mention this?
Because that is more than the entire market cap of all of crypto.
We're still early.

Well, but now I want to contribute to the actual theme of the thread. So my favourite Anime of all time is Record of Lodoss War. Fantastic stuff, like Lord of the Rings as an Anime. And that's the intro:

Thanks man. To be honest, I'm fairly used to it though. Actually, I just read something a few weeks ago. A book called "Red Metal", which is a dissertation about the Metal sub culture in the DDR. Was pretty interesting and also pretty pricey, not sure why I stopped reading it, I might as well just be a bit lazy too.

^ Btw. this a a very recent concert.
Personally, I had mixed experiences with cops. I had one that was just an asshole (and put me down even though I was obviously not going to make any problems anymore). Another one was a very cool and a nice guy.
My question: What is this going to help?`Cops are just humans too. I don't know man... this makes me mad.

I'm just the other way around. I like it when someone points to me something good. Another problem might be that you just create expactaions, and they might be too high. I've never heard about Shamo. Reading it up on Wikipedia... oh yeah, seems like it's very dark. Ippo on the other hand makes you smile. Also the Mangaka is definitely a Boxing fan. It touches on things like weight cutting, Boxing gear, classic Boxing fights, you name it.. It's not super realistic, but it is close. I just don't read much these days anyway. I actually purchased a couple of books of "Monster", which is like the best Seinen-Anime (I actually just learned that term while reading about "Shamo"). Most of it happens even in Germany, which is kinda funny. It's also so super good. I used to read so much. But since I got Tinnitus, I'm almost like afraid of reading, because I don't like these noises. It's kind of sad, because I know there is so much good stuff out there. I'm happy that I read Lord of the Rings in it's entirety, because that was just a journey. Anyway, I'll try to read more now. You know, it might sound pathetic, but thanks for still writing with me, even after I had some serious alcoholic rants, that I didn't mean. I just love Kakutougi and I want to thank you that you're keeping it alive.

Serious question: Should I talk a little about it and try to hype it up for you or should I rather shut my mouth? Because it feels like hyping something up never works... but man, I just KNOW you would love it.

Not that I know of, even though I was riding the train/bus for several hours almost every day and also kinda had contact with humans at work, even with some that were tested positive. I also had 3 shots and I'm at this point were I wouldn't mind a fourth, just to be safer. But as K1power stated, most people don't give a damn anymore. Today I was at the supermarket and I just thought - for the heck of it - I'm wearing a mask, even though it isn't necessary. I was LITERALLY the only one lol. I feelt like the black sheep. Actually, I thought the others were sheeps. Was kinda funny. I'm not so much worried about myself though and rather about my loved ones. Well, another question: Did any of you had confrontations with other people that wouldn't wear a mask or something like that? I had quit a few. My to go rule was actually that if someone is going to sit beside me or in front of me (while I was already sitting, I might add), I would tell them to put the mask on. I broke that rule last time though because it was a cute girl and it was like... meh, nobody seems to care anyway. So I let that slip
