Both skateboarding and freestyle snowboarding really lack the kind of simplicity that you'd want in an Olympic-level individual sport. Mogul skiing is not simple per se either in terms of scoring rules, but still there are a few elements of simplicity inherent in the way the athletes burst down on a steep slope through nasty bumps. That's why watching it is more fun than watching these snowboarders make some pretty arbitrary moves in a pretty unnatural landscape.
I just can't stop zoning out while watching these snowboarding events despite being a fairly good snowboarder myself. These are great athletes, yes, but it's boring as hell. So mysteriously boring.

Of course, nothing beats beach volleyball in terms of boring, summer or winter. I know I'm offending a lot of people with these comments, but whatever. That shit is excruciatingly boring.

Damn, that was one of the best mixed doubles curling matches I've ever seen, between Italy vs. Canada. Canada is out of the competition literally by a millimeter.

I know none of you give a shit, but predictably curling has been by far the most exciting so far, and the main events - men's team and women's team - haven't even started yet.

Wait, *Canada* has all but qualified for the *FIFA* World Cup? How did that happen while I was losing interest in football/soccer?

I know I'm annoying you with this kind of super ordinary rants that you hear every four/two years at your local bar/pub, but I know you're kinda missing them in this Covid time, right? No?
I mean, I'm very familiar with the business side of X Games, but honestly, who other than the athletes themselves truly enjoy slopestyle and big air, skiing or snowboarding? Incredibly redundant when we have mogul and aerial in freestyle skiing, and halfpipe in snowboarding cover that angle.
These are filler events *financially too*. They are just there for the heck of it even in X Games.
Maybe we should add new sports like Outdoor Gymnastics and so on too while we are at it.

We have to chew a lot more often on how embarrassing it was to elect this man as pres. He's more *embarrassing* than the likes of Duterte and Orban, and even Bolsonaro. I mean, why would he be less embarrassing than those? Think hard about it considering all the factors, all the criteria for social, political, structural, systemic embarrassment, and you'll have to reach the same conclusion. The normalization of abnormality is a horrible thing to happen to you, and obviously a lot of people are suffering from that.

It really is one of the most egregiously unAmerican things in America. Immediate ban should be in order, but a lot of wealthy people need it for their dumb kids.

A classmate of mine who was from a well-known super-wealthy family hanged himself, leaving a suicide note which contained such phrases as "always felt useless and stupid" and "everyone is mean to me because I'm dumb."
He had a mental issue, but I always think of him when I think about legacy admissions.

As someone who was born and grew up in a country where the "shortage of snow" is never a problem in large parts of it - the problem is often the opposite, like this year - I find it silly to hold the Winter Olympics in an area where the depth of snow is almost permanently zero, like Beijing. Seeing those athletes compete in the bleak gray landscape in the extremely low temperature that seems more suitable for storing the Covid vaccines, I find the whole "Have you ever heard of artificial snow, dummie? You can even adjust the quality of it! It's no problem - hell, it's even BETTER than natural snow!" business almost offensive.

I can't get the voice of Stefania Constantini saying "Buona linea!" out of my head. I would love her to say that to me every time I feel depressed.
I can't stress enough how crazily good the Italian mixed doubles curling pair were. Easily the best I've ever seen in the history of mixed doubles curling. Unreal performance throughout the event, and well-deserved gold medals, the first ever medal of any color for Italy in curling.

A lot of people have said a lot of things about the harms of facial masks, but I have yet to see any evidence for their claims. Seriously. No evidence whatsoever. They just assert those things.
Look, I'm Japanese, but I had almost never worn a facial mask before the pandemic, mostly because I hated it. But I hate bullshit and lazy assertions even more.

Sure, Denmark has ended the restrictions, but many states in America ended similar restrictions *months ago*, despite the monumentally worse fatality rates and hospitalizations. Yet they are screaming, "Danes! Wise people! Free people! But we are not free because of the fucking liberals!"
They are all headless chickens, having zero clue about what they are talking about. The level of their stupidity and laziness is just sickening.

Having now finished The Book of Boba Fett I have somewhat mixed feelings. While I can honestly say I enjoyed it, it was highly inconsistent and suffered from a complete lack of focus and plot induced stupidity. It's a bit puzzling as this was done by the exact same people that did The Mandalorian and that's the best thing in Star Wars as far as I'm concerned.
On that same note, Peacemaker - which has been running alongside Boba Fett and I wasn't really sure what to expect from - has been shockingly great so far. It's very violent and raunchy and definitely not everybody's cup of tea, but it's completely bonkers and somehow still feels very real, if that makes sense. Probably the best DC thing I've ever seen on TV.

I did end up watching Boba Fett to the end of the season, and... the problem is truly multilayered in this case. Acting, directing, script, and production design. They were in total disarray and total disharmony, as if to actively discourage the audience from investing their emotion in it.
Toward the end of it I couldn't care less about whatever will happen to any of them. I was overwhelmed with this strong sense of apathy - this feeling that I'm looking at something truly insignificant - and that's very unfortunate.
