Very few things in the world are more predictable than this was.
We are living in extremely dumb times. We deserve whatever to come.

If you wonder how those D.C. people can be so full of themselves and lack self-awareness to such an extent, well, just think of a think-tank big-shot who keeps inviting you to his home parties despite the fact that you have been sleeping with his wife for two years non-stop, every week, never suspecting that there's something fishy about his wife having to visit New York on every Thursday "to attend a workshop" even though you and his wife have been very careless far too many times for anyone to count. For two years. We managed to do that until we decided to quit as I had to leave the East Coast.
They suffer from such a severe case of the delusions of grandeur and self-assuredness that they can be incredibly blind and naive about truly important things. You get to really understand that through personal experiences like that.

Quite predictably Russia "successfully ended the first phase of the war" and is now focusing on the "second phase" which is the main goal, and that is "liberating the Donbas".
Well, I guess it's the 11-dimensional chess Putin is supposed to have been playing, right?
Did they decide to invade Ukraine, on the no matter what basis, and then improvise the rest according to the events on the ground? It seems to me that they have already wasted a lot of resources and lives for the "first phase". Sure, taking the Donbas was always a goal, but pretending that they have been focused and consistent for that goal... yeah, right.
In any event it's nowhere near over.

Substack is good in many ways, for many people, but I told you many times that everyone needs a goddamn editor. Even you do when you say something in public. So do even I, even in this thread.
And Bari Weiss was unreadable even when she had editors. I've been just amazingly vindicated when it comes to this moron. I kept calling her the worst writer in the US journalism for years, and since she was still largely unknown when I started calling her names, many people accused me of being a sexist pig/bigot who enjoys picking on a woman.

The United Losing-One-Million-People-To-One-Viral-Disease-In-Two-Years States of America.
I'd say that over and over again until everyone gets how embarrassing and out-of-this-world-ly stupid that is. This is not an international competition, I know, but pretty much the only countries that have suffered more per capita are small Eastern European ones that you should never compare to the US in a serious argument.
Stop normalizing an abnormality. That defensive internal process kills people.

I had flashbacks of those heartbreaking moments from 2020, video chats with nurse/doctor friends in New York, the stories/anecdotes that I heard, the way one of my best friends said (= couldn't say) goodbye to his mother, etc. And they hit me hard.
One million deaths. What a sad monument.

The way the BBC whitewashes the Azov and other neo-nazi guys in Ukraine is pretty identical to the way they did the Saudi-backed Sunni Islamists in Syria. I have to conclude that they do know what they are doing.
I don't even understand what the point is. They do that for what benefit for whom? I really want to know, because if you *really* think about it, it doesn't make much sense.
Well, I know, the BBC has been a total joke for years when it comes to this kind of stuff. Maybe I should just turn it off.

Wow, that Biden speech was genius! I told you that we should definitely corner a rat, because that's how we are supposed to deal with a rat!
My Nuclear-Warfare-O-Meter is making some uncomfortable noise.

Of all of my friends - which is not many, I must say - by far the most cynical one is Armenian. He thinks every country in the world is either plain evil or hypocritical to the point of being just as evil. And that's really understandable. I'd feel the same way if I were Armenian.

I know someone who got Omicron three times already (and symptomatic every time, although very mild). I know a few who got it twice too. This variant is pretty ridiculous.

When you have no resources to speak of, no geopolitical significance, and your neighbors have both, you'll end up having Russia as the only "friend", and history shows that Russia is the worst "friend" you could ever have.
It's pretty obvious that Aliyev and Putin were talking even before the invasion. Putin is throwing Armenia under the bus, one of the most predictable things in the world, and the "West" is of course firmly on the side of Aliyev's oil-money dictatorship in Azerbaijan too.

LMFAO
This is *exactly* the way the Trump supporters defended Donald's tweets and (casual) speeches on foreign policy. Literally exactly.
We should move these Cold War morons into some remote island and let them live there happily ever after. Otherwise we *will* end up with WWIII. Seriously.
