Still hot out here but our daily lows are getting back into the mid 80s which is making it ok again to hang out on the balcony at night. I will be able to work on my custom die cast again. I gotta be outside to grind rivets to take them apart as well as to paint them. exciting times coming. lol.

We've had more scorching days alternating with okay~ish ones over here.
Summers have been getting progressively more unpredictable over here this past decade or so and I'd say it's definitely our doing/global warming. It is what it is. At the moment it's pretty doable with the ventilator blowing behind me.

its funny because we do affect climate to a certain degree the way we live has side effects but its nothing that new. even though record keeping doesnt go back far in our history there are record hot and cold days that go clear back to the earlier side of the 1900s. I feel like its a combination of natural temperature cycles combined with humans. but yeah we dont help things much in regards to that. i dont know if we honestly can. we can try but our way of life now will always have some kind of adverse effect on everything else going on. its 109 degrees here today. its hot as hell.

You guys really need to read up on the current science of climate change. The heat records are broken nearly every year now, and it is entirely due to human activity. Its going to get much, much worse if we continue as we are.

Definitely agree, pretty much said it's our doing.
Some drastic steps need to be taken, which is difficult when World leaders don't unanimously agree that global warming is even a thing, or at least not a thing caused by us.
That said, I don't think activists gluing themselves to art/airplanes/roads is the solution, as well intended as it may be.

Definitely agree, pretty much said it's our doing. Some drastic steps need to be taken, which is difficult when World leaders don't unanimously agree that global warming is even a thing, or at least not a thing caused by us. Yes it will take significant action by Governments to address. Right now way too much focus is put on to individuals to change their behaviour. But if govt doesn't promote or force that change most people won't do it.
The current trend seems to be either to wait until it's too late, or hope magic technology will fix it for us.
That said, I don't think activists gluing themselves to art/airplanes/roads is the solution, as well intended as it may be. They do this because it's the only way they can get media coverage on the issue. If the IPCC releases a report saying we will all be dead in 100 years, it's a minor news item (or ignored completely). If activists throw paint at Van Gogh it's on the front page. Kind of a version of “all publicity is good publicity”.

I just don't see that sort of publicity in and of itself having the desired effect on governments and/or big industry.
At best they're going to win over some individuals which, like you said, are getting too much focus anyway: Most environment conscious people probably already are mindful of how they affect the planet and try to minimize their output/waste, at least to some extent. And even then their contributions are most likely negligible compared to the massive pollution caused by global industries, lenient government regulations and so on.
At worst they're turning a lot of people against them and we'll see them receiving harsher punishments as they keep this up. We're already seeing this.
Guess it'll end up being a mix of both.
I appreciate that this is a desperation move of sorts and do praise the intent, but I'd be surprised for it to have any sort of noteworthy positive effect.

I just don't see that sort of publicity in and of itself having the desired effect on governments and/or big industry. thats because the focus is on the ridiculousness of the situation and not why theyre doing it. and that will happen 100% of the time.
