Rest in peace Koji, Yamazaki Vs Rukiya is cool but I don't think Rukiya has the seasoning to beat him yet. Looking forward to it.

Yoshiki Takei is fighting Yodbuadaeng(?) Fairtex. Haven't been able to find much on him other than a Japanese site saying he was a former Raja champion.

They've brought out the big guns for this event. I thought they'd hold off on a bit more since they have K'Festa2 looming over the horizon, but its an all star card - Takei Yoshiki vs Yodbuadaang Fairtex (former Raja mini flyweight champ) - Noiri Masaaki vs Matuoka Riki - Kumura Syuhei vs Hayashi Yuuta 62.5kg Tournament - Hayashi Kenta vs Nicolas Gaffie - Shinohara Yuto vs Gonnapar Weerasakrek - Urabe Koya vs Indigo Boyd - Osawa Fumiya vs Liu Wei (Hero's Legend Champ) - Reserve bout: Kyoshiro vs Kawasaki Shinichiro I bet Miyata regrets putting such firepower on the card when its already sold out before they did this card announcment EDIT Not a K-1 presser without some inane props

Damn dude, I was fully on board just with the Takeru/Takei double act, but Koya and Gonnapar in a tournament and a Noiri ritual sacrifice? That rules

That rules Unless Noiri is actually fighting the puppy, Matsuoka isn't a pushover. He was always a very skilled vet back in NJKF (where he was a ranker) and was a semi-finalist in one of the old school Koshien tournaments, but he's been on a run since he joined K-1 Gym Team Kings and is riding off a winstreak over Watanabe Toshiki, Big Bang champ Yamagiwa and just dominated Tie Yinghua in WLF (who was riding a win streak over Watabe Daiki, Varga and Singdam). Very tough opponent

Great card to end the season (OP updated).
Will titles be on the line in the super fights?
It's just that I can never tell going by K-1's website alone.

Takeru vs Koji is a title fight (a signing ceremony takes place in the November event. Takei vs Fairtex is not a title fight. I believe the winner of the tournament (if it isn't Koya) gets an automatic title shot vs Koya

That's one of the few things with K-1 I'm gonna bitch about: If you're a champion, your every fight should be for the belt. No exceptions.

I don't think titles should be on the line during tournaments if a sitting champion is taking part, but outside of that context non-title fights are bullshit. That stretch where Hirotaka Urabe was champion and lost back to back non-title fights, then lost to Taiga in a tournament, then finally lost the belt to Taiga in a title fight just made the belt utterly meaningless.
Also, 5 round title fights please, K-1. The shadow of Jan Nortje and Evgeny Orlov has passed.
