Welcome veterans and newcomers alike.
Read this F.A.Q to find out all about the KVFL!
What's the goal of this competition?
Simply put; to succesfully manage a team of fighters and have as much fun possible doing it!
What's different compared to last season?
This season we are going back to a single Best-Of-The-Best type of league like we had in the first season.
The really big difference is that we are going from covering 1 weightclass (Heavyweight) to covering 8 weightclasses
so the roster is going to be that much bigger and more versatile. This in turn means that Teams will be a lot bigger as well.
How do I get started?
So you've decided to try your luck as a TM (Team Manager).
The budget of a new TM is 200.000 KC*, which is enough to get you started.
*The Currency in the KVFL is Kakutougi Credit(s), or KC.
You'll need that cash to contract fighters, build up an actual Team.
Fighters can be contracted in the Fighter Price/Tier-List.
Each team needs to cover at least four separate weightclasses,
which means you need to contract 4 different fighters from the get go.
As you might have noticed from the Fighter/Tier-List, some fighters are able to compete in multiple weightclasses.
This does not mean you can cover multiple weightclasses at the same time with just one fighter: you'll still need to contract 4 different fighters in separate weightclasses from the get go. If you contract a fighter that can compete in multiple weightclasses you need to pick a weightclass for him to compete in and stay around for at least three fights before you can switch. Also, you can not switch to a weightclass you already have another fighter in.
Teams can hold up to a maximum of 8 fighters; 1 in each weightclass.
Each fighter is ranked using one of the following classifications:
- Low Tier 25.000 KC
- Mid Tier 50.000 KC
- High Tier 75.000 KC
- Top Tier 100.000 KC
Fighters that are still actively competing in real life are ranked according to their most recent rankings in the respective organisations they're competing in. Fighters that are not active are ranked according to their (legendary) status.
Free Agents who are Beltholders can not be contracted for their listed price on the Fighter Price/Tier-List.
Prices will have to be negotiated with me (preferably by PM) and depend on a number of factors:
- Your Team's current Bank Account Balance
- The fighter in question and his current record
- The weightclass the fighter is Champion of
Generally speaking, you should count on the contract price to be considerably higher than the listed one.
Free Agents who are next in line for a Title Challenge and/or already scheduled for a Title Fight go for 25.000 KC on top of their listed price on the Fighter Price/Tier-List.
Free Agents who are scheduled to fight in a Title Eliminator go at the same rate than their listed price on the Fighter Price/Tier-List.
Upkeep costs are automatically deducted every time a fighter earns money and is 10% of the total earnings a fighter makes from competing in an event. Say one of your fighters earns 10.000 KC from competing in an event, that means 1.000 KC is deducted for upkeep of that fighter and 9.000 KC go to the bank account of your Team.
While the fighters in KVFL are modelled to resemble their real life counterparts as closely as possible some of the following details may differ; Appearance, Height/Weight, Age, Nicknames, Hometown. Most of these can be attributed to engine limitations within the game.
It should be noted that while being favorites on paper, higher ranked fighters aren't at all guaranteed to win against lower ranked ones; Low Tier CAN beat Top Tier, standup experts CAN beat submission experts on the ground and groundfighters CAN beat strikers on their feet. What fun would it be without upsets like in real life, right?
So how do I earn money?
The main way to earn money is to simply compete and win fights. On top of the winning purses there are performance bonuses which can be earned.
Fight Purses
Ranking Fights
5.000 KC to show - 5.000 KC victory bonus
Title Eliminator Fight
7.500 KC to show - 7.500 KC victory bonus
Title Fight
15.000 KC to show* - 20.000 KC victory bonus*
*In case of a Title Defense the Reigning Champion receives 20.000 KC to show.
*Victory bonus goes up 5.000 KC with each succesfull title defense.
Fight Of The Night Bonus is 10.000 KC
Knockout Of The Night Bonus is 10.000 KC
Submission Of The Night Bonus is 10.000 KC
Another way to earn money is to release promo material:
- Text oriented articles (2.500 KC)
- Graphic designs; Banners, GIFs, Posters (5.000 KC)
- Podcasts (7.500 KC)
- YouTube Videos (10.000 KC)
By releasing promo material you're allowed to earn up to 10.000 KC a week.
Of course you can always make money by being on the receiving end of a business deal.
And then there might be some other ways...
As you can probably guess, cash is of the essence for a lot of things:
- Contracting fighters
- Paying fighter upkeep
- Shopping at the "100% Legal Store"
- Cutting (shady) deals with other managers
How to enter events?
Fighters are usually matched up in events by the KVFL organisation (me). However, beefs can create matchups and special requests can always be discussed. Just make sure to be active and vocal on the Forum!
As for the event schedule; Once again I've decided to keep it very open in this third season so that I am more flexible which means less specified dates and more spontaneous events. The first event will kick off the season once we have at least 8 TeamManagers, meaning that currently we need 2 more signings (though I would personally prefer more).
For the members that have signed up thus far: TeamManagers start creating your teams!
New TeamManagers can join during the season! In fact I'm going to heavily encourage you guys to bring in more TeamManagers: Each TeamManager that brings in another one receives a bonus of 50.000 KC.
Where can I keep track of my Team's details?
In Team Info you can find an overview of every Teams' details like their current
Bank Account Balance and contracted Fighters.
Fighter rankings and records are listed in KVFL Rankings.
Furthermore, the KVFL section of the forum has been separated into three pretty self-explanatory sub-boards:
- Info Corner: Where you can find topics like the one you are reading right now.
- The League: Where events & fights are announced and TeamManagers can discuss business, release statement etc.
- Live Event Discussion: Where events can be watched & discussed while they are happening.
