Frankie's the underdog in this one. I haven't gambled in a while, but this one seems tasty.

Man, Edgar got demolished.
He did indeed! As did Mike Rodriguez....
Both the Oezdemir-Rakic and the Choi Jourdain fights looked like both could end the fight if they connected. Nice scraps both of them.
Barriault pushed the fight. He also looks really tough. Also none of his offence looked as if it would be able to be effective in a way as if it would have been able to win him the fight.
The Kang - Pingyuan fight.. I was wondering as if in 2019 a fighter can still win a fight by being on top for three rounds. Well I guess you can.

At least the judges (2 or 3) gave the first round to the Chinese fighter, which I agree with.

Indeed. One judge even gave him two out of three rounds.
I must admit that when I wrote my comment, I wasn't thinking about how judges look at takedowns and top vs. bottom positions in respect to effective grappling and octagon control. Thank you for pointing that out.
I was more thinking along the lines of fighters using it as a gameplan to have top control for three rounds to win the fight. I mean in the couple of events I watched the last couple of weeks, I noticed that MMA has gotten even more kickboxing oriented than it already was about 10 years ago. (you agree/disagree?) Takedown defence and avid scrambling looks much more widespread than it already was.
Back to the fight, Kang was constantly trying to improve his position and was really good at preventing his opponent from getting any posture to stand up. Pingyuan was preventing bad positions really actively, he was really working well with his elbows and was constantly looking for subs. I was entertained indeed.

Oh, and Joe Martinez being the ring announcer! I loved WEC back in the days and he was one of the many reasons.

Yes, I totally agree. The improved takedown defense among the roster and the also improved judging criterias made Fitch-esque performances a lot more rare. Heh, I actually liked Fitch back then, even if just for the fact that he pissed so much people off. About the judging: Some years ago a fighter could get his ass beat for 4 minutes, then get a takedown with some top control and nothing else and it might have won him the round. That is usually not the case anymore. The judging isn't perfect yet imo, but it has gotten better.
