That's the end of GLORY as the sport's premier league, whether they recognize it or not. You don't see the UFC partnering with other organizations - they don't need to. Especially not with a regional minnow like Enfusion. Hardcore fans will welcome it, but overall it's bad news for the sport. An organization which is solid and stable does not need to engage in low-level regional partnerships. This is the opposite of a power move.

For the majority of the past decade, Glory used to have the biggest names at the higher weightclasses under contract, which kinda made them the biggest promotion by default. This is still pretty much the case. I never considered Glory to be the sport's premier league, though. If anything, I'd say Glory's bankruptcy in 2020 already marked their end as the 'major' promotion. Subsequently being unable to secure any TV deals which kinda forced them into PPV-only and the fact that they held only three events last year drove that point home even further.
That said, for a struggling promotion, Glory 78 and 79 were two of my favorite events they did, maybe ever. While this move may be a sign of things not going well for Glory, many companies have been struggling since the pandemic.
And desperation or not, I welcome this 'Rivals' move if it means some cool crossover matchups. At the 'top of their game', Glory was burning money on shitty US cards with American 'talent' that nobody wanted to see. I'll take this over that any day. I don't think it's bad for the sport at all, because I don't think the sport really 'needs' Glory to begin with. Sure, some fighters will cross over to other sports, but that's happening as we speak anyway.
Edit: Hey man, it's been a while. How have you been?

Hey Jaraya, Rigters, Tavares, Wisse and Bokeme. Good news, you get to fight in Enfusion again!

Odd news. Have to wait for more info to really make heads or tales of this. Think Rise said more info later this month.
Don't exactly know much about how the Glory/Enfusion relationship is. Is/used to be a lot of It's Showtime people obviously so they know each other, but that could be an interesting working relationship after everything that's happened. Enfusion should've just been a Glory feeder league or kinda the glory.nl organization for a few years already. Enfusion tried to become bigger for a while there. The attempt at signing Hari and when they had the ~70 kg league with Jaraya, Ozcan etc. That all ended and Glory pretty much literally signed all their best guys away from them.
When Glory was doing 12+ events a year internationally some kind of cooperation could've at least sorta made sense. Let Enfusion keep the scene active locally, then do a big Glory card in Amsterdam every 6 month or so and work together, share some fighters. Now to work together when Glory only does events in the Netherlands and Enfusion doesn't have anyone but Semeleer...is it just a partnership to let Glory fighters stay more active by essentially letting them fight in Enfusion?
But if that's the case then what's the deal with Rise? Glory doesn't exactly have a lot of guys who fight at Rise weights.
Compared to Glory, I suppose Rise is popular in Japan so Glory trying to somehow benefit off of that? But Glory doesn't need Enfusion in the Netherlands for the same reason.
Seems like a weird mix of partners.

I'm sure they intend use it as a way to keep their own fighters active, but it probably also works - to some degree - as a cost cutting measure by sharing resources, talent pools etc.
The thing I'm personally invested in are GLORY vs. PROMOTION X/Y/Z cards with good crossover matchups that have interesting narratives leading into them. Of course that's going to be a challenge given how some promotions (i.e. RISE) excel at completely different weightclasses than GLORY, but I think they can find a way to make it work if they're not half-assing it.
If it works out, great. If not, at least Glory didn't go down without a fight (pun intended lol).

It'd be funny if this ended up being just a big nothing. Say Petpanomrung appearing one more time in Rise and a couple old Enfusion guys who are most complaining about inactivity fighting on Enfusion once again. Glory gets to stream the cards on their ppv service and then nothing ever again.

Yeah the article mentioned that Glory is also in talks with promotions in Brazil and the US. WGP is the only noteworthy Brazilian promotion, so it would make sense.
No idea who they're in contact with in the US, though. Maybe Bellator? If it's not them, perhaps some smaller promotions like Xtreme Fight Night or Karate Combat.

Xtreme Fight Night or maybe that Triumphant thing some Glory fighters already fought on or even Lion Fight.
Was thinking Bellator doesn't have any kickboxers contracted anymore but I suppose Bulaid or maybe a comeback fight for RvR if he is still going to fight.
