It appears that Anderson Silva has extended his contract with the UFC for eight more fights.
In an interview to Combate.com, the former UFC Middleweight champion said that he was in negotiations with Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White last week and signed on to do15 bouts in total for the promotion. The first one is going to be against Nick Diaz at UFC 183.
"I had seven fights left in my contract. I was with Lorenzo and Dana last Thursday and the contract was torn. We signed for 15 more fights. We did it to let Dana crazy and let people crazy at my home too (laughs)."
It's hard to see the 39-years old Brazilian compete 15 more times before retirement. He had 15 appearances since July 2007, so he will be active maybe at least until 2021, based on a scenario where he maintains the same consistency from the past seven years. "The Spider" most recently fought on December 2013 at UFC 168, where he lost for the second time to Chris Weidman.
