Their international comeback would be more or less dead in the water if they can't figure that stuff out.
I wonder if there'll be English/Schiavello commentary for this one, considering it comes across as ReBirth in name only.

Schiavello just told me that there is no international broadcast for the next event. Hence he is not doing commentary.

Who didn't see this coming though? I knew nothing would come of this. I am doubting them bringing back the Grand Prix's also.

Damn. They really goofed up this international expansion.

The moment the first batch of fights was announced I suspected this would be ReBirth in name only and larsenator just made it official. I've been skeptical since this whole thing was announced, but I think it's still fair to chalk these recent missteps up to start-up problems/growing pains. If a few stumbles are enough to derail their whole expansion masterplan, then I don't know what to say. They said the proper kick-off to their expansion would be in 2024 so I think things can still end up being fine. What I will say though is that I hate when companies don't keep the public in the loop and K-1 has been guilty of this where we've had to find stuff out through unofficial channels. All of that said this is still a pretty decent looking card that I look forward to.

Fingers crossed: who wouldn't want the old days of K-1 heavy weight tourneys back again?!

For not even a second did I believe in a "rebirth" lol K-1 has their hands full just trying to compete with RISE for the Japanese regional market.

Think K-1 still has brand value globally and they could easily generate some revenue from markets outside Japan. Just there must be some rights/legal issues still, even if they claimed to own the whole thing. Nothing else to really explain why the DAZN deal exploded in their hands like it did.

I think it's very possible that K-1 Japan inherited some problems from K-1 FEG and/or K-1 Global as they both owed a lot of people money.
It may have been a while, but I'm pretty sure I've told this story before either on this forum or the old Kakutougi so some of you may already be familiar with it. Either way, I was at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2013 in Zagreb with some friends. At the event I met Alin Huiu - who was working for SuperKombat at the time and currently is part of the Dynamite Fight Show management - and he introduced me to Eduard Irimia - who was and technically still is (?) - the president of SuperKombat. We talked about the event for a minute and then Irimia grabbed his phone and said something along the lines of "K-1 is fucked, they cannot broadcast events internationally anymore" and showed me some e-mails that according to him confirmed it.
I was kinda surprised that he'd share such sensible information with a total stranger he just met two minutes ago, but a few minutes later we both went our ways and I didn't give it much thought after. Thinking back, K-1 Global didn't do a lot of big events anymore after the one in Zagreb and the ones they did only aired on small-time local networks and streaming platforms. I'm not sure how accurate Irimia's information was and I may be forgetting some important details, but if there were international broadcasting issues connected to the K-1 brand at the time I can imagine that having some unforeseen ramifications for K-1 Japan today.

Seems like ReBirth events are being officially broadcasting in China now.
I think is just a negotiation issue. They should have solved ($$$$) all the international restriction stuff with the THE MATCH money.

I actually didn't see the main card, but I watched everything else. Prifti beating KANA was not surprising to me at all. I watched some of her prior to the fight, and while I didn't made a prediction on her winning, I did think she stood a good chance. She bossed that fight. Loved how annoyed she was post fight with the media obligations lol.
Hoshi fights with straw and dust in his head. He will never amount to anything. He had Yamaguchi hurt and multiple times and simply walked into danger at every turn. Dude is all physical, no mental.
Jomthong looked like his usual self until the second round. He knew he'd lost come the final bell. Shame for him.
Himalayan Cheetah fight was a good one. Both were getting hurt.

Haven't seen this latest fight of his yet, but Hoshi looks like he spends most time lifting weights and hitting the punch-o-meter with his friends.
As for Cheetah I'm kinda worried about him losing most of his fights, at least his K-1 fights.
