Some translated bits of
Warrior Talk #21.
This was released on January 26th.
Samantha van Doorn (Former fighter/Trainer of Anwar Ouled-Chaib)
- Her parents own jewelry stores and made her and her sister practice martial arts to be able to defend themselves in case something happened (at the store).
- Started with Karate.
- Switched to Kickboxing, because she had to hold back in (point) Karate fights.
- Feels female fighters don't get enough credits.
- Has had (male) fighters not return for a second training session when they realized she - a woman - was the trainer.
- Thinks the nerves got to Anwar in his fight with Semeleer, but agrees that he lacked experience going into that fight.
Mory Kromah (Enfusion LHW Champion)
- Started Kickboxing at 18.
- Was a football player until 2017 when he suffered a knee injury.
- Had his first fight soon after starting to train. He won by TKO and knew he wanted to pursue a career in the sport.
- The mask he currently wears during walkouts was inspired by the show
Squid Game.
- Is now Enfusion champion, but wants to fight in Glory and challenge Abena for the title.
- Kinda called Glory's LHW division out right then and there.
- Spoke into the camera and said "The Black Ghost is coming to take your soul" lol.
- Is a bit of a showman and believes it comes from watching WWE as a kid.
- Has already been in contact with Robbie Timmers through his manager.
- Thinks he'll eventually grow into a HW.
- Has already competed at HW and defeated Nabil Khachab by Decision.
- Has a fight lined up in Enfusion in March after which he's ready to move to Glory.
- Feels Rajabzadeh could surprise at the Grand Prix, because of his crazy energy.
Ismail Ouzgni
- Is the younger brother of L'houcine Ouzgni.
- Wanted to be a football player and initially refused to train at his brother's gym.
- Ultimately changed his mind and now trains with his brother.
- Didn't sign up for
House of Glory, but was approached.
- Being part of the program left an impression on him.
- Says being around Mike before a fight is completely different to being around his brother who is a lot more serious.
- Admits nobody from
House of Glory would have stood a chance against Semeleer had they been in Anwar's shoes.
- Had a recent chat with Robbie Timmers regarding his future and can't give anything away yet, but hints he could have a good fight with Jay Overmeer.
- Outside of the sport he's still in school and works with troubled youths.
Wilson Boldewijn (Journalist)
- His love for martial arts started with Bruce Lee.
- Started doing Karate and later moved on to Kickboxing.
- Has had chances to do fights, but said he wasn't cut out for it, because he was never good at dealing with pain.
- Trains at Mike's Gym.
- Used to be a football reporter, but says interviewing the players was boring, because it's all very scripted.
- By contrast, he feels in Kickboxing you can have a real conversation with pretty much everyone.
- Feels the reputation of Kickboxing has much improved since the 70s and 80s where it was exclusively associated with criminals.
- Wrote a biography about Mike Passenier called
Big Mike and is now writing a book about Gilbert Yvel.
- One of the craziest things he experienced was Bob Sapp walking away from his fight Hoost in 2006 and Aerts replacing him -literally- last minute.
- Says Aerts said at that moment he was offered "50k to jump in and beat up Hoost right now" lol.
- Isn't sure about Glory holding tournaments for every weightclass.
Another good one. I think we can expect Kromah to join the Glory ranks soon.
