That really does suck. Ouyang has slightly come out as a name to watch out for, but this would've been his moment to shine. Beat Buakaw and win a "proper" K-1 tournament...
Sucks for him.

Happening this Sunday.
Interestingly, Shintaro Matsukura's opponent will be Alexandru Amaritei. Amaritei defeated Eduard Gafencu at the K-1 Romania event. It was the one where Gafencu broke his leg.
It's cool to see fighters from the local events getting a chance in Japan. Unfortunately, this will be another catchweight bout.

Is okay to charge for these events (USD20 may be a little steep for me in a third world country, but a I am a minority) but charging that for the Bosnia event is laughable.

Apparently Buakaw is making 270k just to fight Koprivlenski and the tournament winner can make "up to" 1M USD, which probably depends on a lot of factors like starting purse and KO bonuses. Of course one has to wonder how accurate this information is since K-1 hasn't addressed the prize money yet themselves, but if it's true I was not expecting them to throw this kind of money around.

I believe Buakaw making good money, but highly highly doubt anywhere near 1mil for the winner. There's nobody in that tournament you have to pay all that much to enter the tournament, other than Buakaw. K-1 themselves isn't advertising it either. You put up big prize money so you can advertise it (like ONE/PFL/GLORY) or because you HAVE to do so to get talent in.

Is it in baht? K-1 sells less tickets than RISE does nowadays, and they barely get traction on social media. I can't see them throwing more money around than GLORY for regional level fighters.

I have no clue how K-1 is doing in terms of ticket sales; aren't their events selling out or at least close to that?
When it comes to social media I did notice their YouTube channel barely growing past 500k subscribers over the past year or so. Their Japanese Instagram page has a little over 100k which isn't great either.
There has been a notable uptick in attention K-1 has been getting from the Dutch community over the past three months or so, but Romania and Sarajevo haven't been the best advertisements and K-1 needs to do stricter quality control over whoever they choose to franchise/co-promote with.

They aren't selling out the very small parts of the arena's they are configuring. Usually why it's so dark in them. They do seem to do 'better' in Osaka, but it's not that much better from what I can see. Look at the set up for ReBOOT and MAX from March this year. They release Behind the Scene's videos too and you can usually see a mass of empty seats when the fighters are leaving the arena, and that includes the parts they have configured. Japanese are always talking about how little K-1 resonates with the public now, even with the likes of Kumura and Kaneko. They don't seem to get any traction on social media at all.

Takeru and a bunch of other popular fighters left K-1 over the past few years.
They need some new/Japanese stars and probably try harder to keep them around.

Anpo and the dude who fought YA-MAN at THE MATCH straight up said on Twitter it was the shit money and contracts for why they left lol. I read somewhere that K-1 was paying 300K for Krush champions and about 1 million for K-1 champions. Obviously yen and obviously I do not know if that is actually accurate. I do remember Anpo saying he made around 2-3 million when he was a champion and said it was worse than a salaryman in the country. I think he meant he made 2-3 million if he fought like twice a year. I know Rizin pays well, but Anpo has fought twice for BREAKING DOWN for a reason. Former K-1 or Krush fighter Daichi Tomizawa has also said he has made waaaaay more there than he would've in kickboxing regardless of the organisation. Kinda sucks tbh, but K-1 will have to figure it out somehow. Apparently they moved to PPV now and some Japanese were not happy with that.

They know K-1 and ONE are going to drop all this international Max category idea in a while. Let's hope they are wrong and K-1 Max grows again into something. ONE can drop it as far as I am concerned.

Pretty cool to see Genki Sudo in addition to Masato there as some sort of ambassador for K-1 Max even though he was mostly an MMA guy. You know, I never really appreciated Masato while he was still active and thought of him as arrogant, but he has grown on me since retiring and his accomplishments speak for themself. Having him involved in the promotion definitely adds some legitimacy and from what I've understood he's usually spot on predicting and commentating fights.
