BTW I'm surprised how almost nobody seems to care about this event.

Nobody cares about this show because of the giant, giant gap between events. It's hard to measure the impact of each event, but if you look at Google Trends even at just the GLORY organization, you'll see that the value has declined a lot in the last few months. www.google.com/trends/explore#q=GLORY%2017%2C%20GLORY%2018%2C%20%2Fm%2F0gvsyrl&cmpt=qIf you cut out the individual events; www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%2Fm%2F0gvsyrl&cmpt=qGoogle trends is good for stuff like mapping search engine query trends and 'bigger' articles, like from trusted news sources. The most popular that GLORY has been was back in April. Ironically, GLORY 15 didn't have great ratings on Spike TV. Regardless, that was when interest was the highest. They did a good job of promoting GLORY 17 and Last Man Standing but PPV was just simply the wrong move for them. I'm not even going to say the wrong move at the wrong time, it was the wrong move. It's frustrating to me because I've spoken with a few of their higher ups and earlier this year I kept saying the same thing, "PPV is dead in the US, it's a bad idea." They move forward with PPV and I get a few people saying, "so I guess you were right." Who are they paying money to or trusting the organization with if me, some schmuck, can say that something is a bad idea? The PPV failure killed their momentum and grounded them, heavily. It made them realize that they were mortal and the telltale signs that had always been there weren't anomalies, they were omens. They were giant billboards saying "this isn't working, you need to try something else." I'm hoping that the ratings come back okay for this. The GLORY KO's show did solid ratings, but they are afraid to release the number in case this show bombed so that they can have some positive numbers to report.

Hardcore fans didn't even care though, or to a much lesser degree, which makes no sense since it's still quality fights that were heavily advertised well in advance.
But yeah, let's see where things go from here.

Because hardcore fans don't really want to see modest kickboxing shows with solid names.
They want spectacle and for everyone to go broke.
Everyone on Sherdoggy is arguing that GLORY needs to go back to NYC and LA and it's just insanity. Those places have muay thai scenes, sure, but I don't think they understand that muay thai scenes in the US are the equivalent to hipster scenes. They don't like or respect kickboxing because it isn't muay thai. They aren't going to pay to see Daniel Ghita or Gokhan Saki, if they are going to go it's going to be to support a local guy who fights muay thai. Otherwise they look down upon kickboxing like its a lesser sport.

Al Wichgers is borderline dangerous. He needs ridding of, stat.
The fight that Kiria and RVR had was worthy of a far greater stage than it was given. The trouble is of course, does that stage exist in 2014/15?
The KO of Collette was quite chilling given the event's intimate setting.
I didn't expect Ilunga-Cavalari to be as one sided as it was, or to be one sided at all if I'm honest.
Wayne Barrett,eh? Both of the US guys on the main card were beaten out of sight.
I would have willingly stayed up for this if it wasn't for that pain in the rectum named work and I would have been glad I did as I liked the show, it was very watchable from a purely fighting perspective but from a TV stand point it can't be good for business when it looks and sounds as if the show is being held in a library. If I was watching GLORY for the very first time I would have had the impression that they were a small time outfit.

Id be interested to know what their long term plan is right now. It looks as of all of a sudden they are broke. I remember after the K-1 show in L.A when the momentum they had at the time stalled because they just couldnt afford to lose vast ammounts of money promoting shows in the U.S. Looks like the Glory promotion have made the same mistake only on a much larger scale. Maybe the truth is Kickboxing cant thrive in that part of the world because of the competition from MMA and Boxing. The only trouble is now people expect high level shows from Glory regardless of financial reality.

This was a really good show with some really good fights. I just hope they don't continue to waste so many good fights with big name fighters such as Gerges on the prelims (or they start to air them on TV somehow).

The first round is missing, but rounds 2 and 3 look way too even to me to support a 30-27 decision which I believe is how this fight was scored by one or two judges.

I gave round 2 pretty clearly to Adegbuyi (landing much cleaner shots) and 3 clearly to Gerges (turning up the volume while Adegbuyi was fading, even though he landed the cleanest strike at the end of the round).

In round 2 Adegbuyi put a beating on Gerges. Gerges took a similar beating in a round against Londt. Round 2 is everything but not even. It was a beating. Round 3 was gerges's round though. Gerges won the last round mainly because Benny gassed. So I presume benny won round 1 as easy as he won round 2.
