Hesdy Gerges sentenced to 54 months jail for cocaine smuggle

Kickboxer Hesdy Gerges (30) has been dealt a harsh sentence today in Antwerpen today for smuggling cocaine. The Amsterdam local was arrested in 2011 by an arrest unit for being involved in a 128 kilogram cocaine deal. When he was released he told AT5 how those days in jail affected him: "It was like being in a nightmare!" Regardless, the Belgian Department of Justice (prosecution) demanded 4 years against Gerges. Today during the sentencing the Judge surpassed even that amount: 54 months of inprisonment and he has to pay an additional fine of 22.000 Euro (27k+ USD). Gerges' Belgian lawyer is not sure yet if he is going for appeal.

Gerges' cousin Ashraf G., Soufian C., Marc de W. and Lucas B. have received the same sentence for their part in the coke-deal.

A sixth suspect was Patrick Brisban, a known criminal who has been killed on December 2nd, 2012 in Diemen. His death caused the delay in the process.

On the subject of cocaine busts, is Aschwin Balrak a free man? He was meant to be behind bars for a considerable amount of time, but in the back of my mind I half recall google translating an article which said he was out or would have been getting out reasonably soon.

Yeah, he is out. He is even one of the Team Captains in the new season of the Enfusion TV Reality Show with the female fighters. Brice Guidon is one of the other Team Captains. Though everything should have been recorded by now and none of the participants are at liberty to discuss any results before things have aired yet I believe Guidon might have actually fought Balrak if I'm not mistaken. Maybe Brice can shed some light on things since he's a member here..?

On the subject of Balrak getting another chance in Enfusion after his history, I dunno about that. I'm all for getting a second chance in life and whatnot, but I'm not sure this creates a good example.

"Hi everyone,
I'm just back from the Enfusion reality, it was a great experience, with many meetings and new friendship.
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to communicate the results for the moment, I can only say that i think I did a good job as captain with the most successful team of the show, but i certainly did not take enough time for myself and my fight, the result is not that i expected but the point is elsewhere.
I did the show to know if i still was in love with the sport as it's a bit different since i'm a daddy (i know it sounds gay (no offense)) and I was happy and surprise to see that i'm still having fun on the ring and i have to admit that i'm still in love with boxing (damn ! lol)
So you'll see me again between 4 ropes!
Of course I have to find back the level that was mine between 2010 and 2012 but I am confident in the future and I feel like a second career could begin for me.
A more thoughtful and professional career (now that I'm dad, lol) with a steady return to Netherlands for some heavy sparring sessions!
Of course i ll need a financial support to complete this project, so do not hesitate if you have any ideas for work that would leave me time to train or even better, solid sponsors!

Of course it was not only my team in the game and I was also amazed by the sport AND human side of the other candidates, it was just 18 warriors with a huge heart and even more impressive human qualities . Well done girls!
The other captains were also great, thank to Kirk, Ashwin, Daniel and Lukaz!
Do not forget the technical, audio and sound team with guys just as nice as each other.
Finally the all team of Enfusion surprised me with a level of sympathy at least as developed as our athletic abilities!
