Welcome to Kakutougi.
This is a forum that will stand apart from the others. A board where you will be both encouraged and expected to engage in knowledgeable and respectful discussions; you don't need to agree to reply to a topic, but at the very least you will be expected to be able to explain why you do not. Replies that are simply personal attacks or statements based on bias rather than facts will not be tolerated.
Being a new fan to the sport is not a problem. Posting stupid comments is. This is "the Internet," but you will be expected to treat other members as you would face to face.
There will be no tolerance at all of anti-(insert fighters name, martial art, organization, other forum etc) crusades.
Those of you that are rational and objective will find this a most welcoming place. Those of you that are not will find yourself more welcome at another site.
Doing one of the following will get you a warning, or banned. Warnings will be given rarely.
New threads need to follow a number of guidelines:
Things to consider:
Important items to consider:
1. Posting articles / material from other websites on Kakutougi.
If you see interesting articles on other websites, by all means let the folks on Kakutougi know. But do not copy and paste the entire article; you may be infringing on copyrighted material. Even if there are no legal repercussions, it is simply not a nice gesture to copy the work of others.
Instead paraphrase part of the article in your post (usually the title and the first few sentences) and post the link to the article. This ensures that the actual author / creator of the article as well as the hosting website receive their due credit; help us to keep it that way.
2. About the site
Kakutougi.info is a website created to promote mature discussions among mature people. If an administrator or moderator feels that a particular person is taking too much time and effort to moderate, and that person does not add anything positive to the site, that user may be banned even if no explicit rule has been broken.
Keep in mind, Kakutougi does not employ anybody, so administrators and moderators do their job by choice. Nobody is interested in getting into long discussions with "trolls", so it's more effective to ban the user.
3. Additional guidelines
We request that the following additional "rules" be followed:
* Do not bash each other on the forums; there are other boards that cater to such entertainment. Moderate levels of conflict are good sometimes; they promote discussions and different viewpoints. But conflicts will be tolerated only as long as they are mature and kept to discussion levels without bashing
* If you see what you believe to be a problem on the boards, PM a moderator or administrator who is currently on
* If you have a problem with an admin or mod, PM an admin / mod you may trust. If it is a genuine problem, we will do our best to help. Don't make a big deal of it on the boards; remember mods are people too ;-)
* You do not have to agree with others' ideas, but be sensitive to them. Religion, race, nationality, linguistic differences, and many other topics can be extremely sensitive points
All rules are subjective to administrative interpretation.
