It would be interesting to see if miocic can avoid that right overhand and pick jds apart. He is technical, taller, bigger and stronger with better wrestling than jds. Though jds might be to fast for Miocic. Also he has a good enough chin and speed to get through miocic strikes in order to deliver his lethal strike.
If overeem fight smart and take Sturve down all the time, he might win a decision by superior position. Though I can't see him being a threat on the ground for struve, but he for sure can control struve there and win the fight. If he doesn't take struve down in order to keep the fight there, he will probably get ko'd on the feet again. His stand up is a disater at this point. His striking was good when he was in his prime, With big gloves, on the juice and without any gorund&wrestling implications. The stance, the way you move, keep your hands and throw strikes in mma are totally different and doesn't fit at all with him stand up style. If you add here that he is out of his prime, out of juice and with his spirit borken, he probably is one of the worst strikers in ufc right now. He never was a great striker in mma anyway.

I think the biggest issue with Overeem - and there are quite a few of them as correctly pointed out above - is that as soon as he gets hit he instantly loses his motivation to win and shows ZERO heart.

of course he "plans" that. you can only plan for how far you can mentally and physically go. and that sounds about right for him lately.

I don't understand why overeem keep saying that shit; "I will beat Rothwell 9 out of 10 fights". No, he won't. We all saw how vulnerable he looked from the fist minute of that fight until he got finally ko'd. Before the ko, he was dropped once and was rocked another time. Ben Knock him out with a broken hand. He looked like he didn't belong in the same ring with Rothwell.
If overeem don't take this fight to the ground in order to win a decision, he will get ko'd by struve. Struve has no take down defence at all, so it wouldn't be that hard to get the fight there. But he should be careful, struve can sub him.
Struve TDD is that bad that even if overeem gases hard in round 3, he will still get the TD with easy. But we all know that when you get tired your body and even mind would work or listen to you that well and he might get caught in sub.

I've only watched the fights of the main card just now.
That was a fun card.
Mittrione made pretty quick work of Gonzaga who never really got into the fight.
Overeem looked impressive against an, admittedly, somewhat rusty looking Struve.
Dos Anjos completely kicked Diaz' ass with lowkicks. Diaz still having the nerve to bitchslap and call out Dos Anjos from his back after that huge whooping made me hope he'd get brutally knocked out. But oh well, this loss certainly was humiliating enough.
Miocic really impressed me in the early goings and the very last bit of the fight. With more gas in his tank he just might had pulled the upset. Dos Santos was game as well. Really fun brawl.
Good event.

You call that a brawl? That was one of the more techincal stand up fights in MMA HW that I've seen

I really liked the body jab of JDS. I don't get the people who are like "JDS didn't looked good at all". Miocic is a pretty good fighter and he was game. JDS showed nice composure and technical striking to overcome the adversity he faced in the early rounds to win a deserved decision, also thanks to his better cardio. Good showing by both.
