I did a very quick translation
One of GLORY's most attractive fighters is Gökhan Saki. Saki was the number one heavyweight for a while and is currently the reigning GLORY Light Heavyweight champion. And yet we haven't seen him fight for a while now. It's even said he is free from his contract and is considering a career in MMA! Mixfight looked Saki up and interviewed him.
Gökhan, you're the GLORY champion, but we haven't seen you fight in a while. How long have you been inactive?
"I haven't fought for way too long now. The reason for this is GLORY; they decide who fights at an event and how often. Of course you have a contract that covers the amount of fights you should have each year, but GLORY did not honor that either. I think if you want to grow as a brand, you need to make sure the fan favorites fight as often as possible. GLORY has different ideas about that."
When can we see you back in the ring?
"I'm in talks with several organisations and it won't be long before a decision is made. Keep up with my Facebook and Twitter. As soon as anything is in writing I will announce it."
You're still the GLORY champion, how do you experience this?
"It's my goal to be a champion and be the best regardless of the organisation. If you're the best you should fight in the biggest event, especially if it's in your contract! But like I said, they're not giving me the agreed amount of fights. I think that's because GLORY lost track of who's in charge; too many captains make a ship sink. For my part I don't feel appreciated as a champion."
In the press a possible crossover to MMA is being mentioned. It's even said that multiple MMA organisations are interested, is this true?
"That's right, I'm surprised about it as well. I never thought people would want to see me try my hands at MMA so badly. Maybe it's a bit because of Bas Rutten who loves my fighting style and was always curious about how I'd do in the cage. I love fighting, so bring it... 'if the money is right!!'"
Where do you live and who is training you?
"I live in Dubai and fly Mike Passenier over for fight preparations. The last big successes I had with him and Hans Nijman. To my regret Hans will not be there anymore, but he'll be there in spirit."
Sem Schilt spoke out about not being happy with GLORY, he told about your hand being raised as the winner when he actually won the fight. How did you experience that?
"Shit, yes that was a tough pill to swallow and I thought I fought a good fight so the right decision was being made. Can you imagine my disappointment? I still don't know what kind of shit that ref has been smoking!!"
During Golden Glory's 'glory days' you guys looked like a very tight team and you had great ring entrances! Do you miss that?
"When I fight it's always my party so to speak. I still think about the K-1 times a lot, the Dutch battles we had in Japan. The Japanese loved crazy entrances, that made the atmosphere. GLORY ended that and I miss that and the times I had at Golden Glory."
What's your favorite fightsportwebsite and do you have a message for your fans?
"Simply mixfight.com! I wish all my fans happy holidays and a happy new year, osu!"
