$2 million offer made to Wilder to fight Briggs on September 5 at the Hard Rock

Sources have confirmed that an official $2 million purse has been offered to WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder to defend against former two-time heavyweight champ Shannon Briggs. The proposed date would be Sept 5th at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida. It will be an all-heavyweight fight card with a historic event taking place the very same night. More on this will be announced shortly.

Briggs and Wilder initially had words in New York prior to the Wladimir Klitschko-Bryant Jennings fight. Since then, they have taken it to Twitter exchanging pleasantries. The promoter of the event is willing to put the up the cash to make the fight happen.

Wilder appears to be all set to fight Cris Arreola in Sept on NBC. Both men are advised/controlled by Al Haymon who's show they will be fighting on.

After that, who knows? Wilder will be a big favourite against Arreola, but reading between the lines, he has no intention of fighting his WBC mandatory, Alexander Povetkin, and if Klitschko is victorious against Fury in October I would imagine it would be another steady 12 months of garbage foes in 2016 as Wilder and Haymon wait for Klitschko to begin to creak before making their move.
