SuperKombat WGP II - Constanta, Romania [May 24th]

This Saturday, May 24th in Constanta, Romania SuperKombat will present their next edition of their World Grand Prix series. This event will feature a four-man, one night Light Heavyweight tournament with four promising Light Heavyweights. The event also features fights from SuperKombat standouts Cristian Ristea and Sebastian Ciobanu. The event will air on Sport.ro in Romania at 10:00PM EEST time and 9pm CEST time on EuroSport.

While production looked nice, the event looked like it was held in a small ballroom and had only VIP tables.

I only watched the first two fights of the card, but man did they suck. What has happened to SuperKombat?

While they're improving some aspects of their product like better production and having international tryouts, the fighters that actually make it to their live televised shows nowadays are more often than not absolute B-grade fighters.

There are plenty of good and entertaining fighters that aren't tied to GLORY that they can get. SuperKombat used to have guys like Gerges, Verhoeven and Zimmerman in their events, but these past two years most of their events have been absolutely terrible and the quality of fights and fighters in their WGPs seem to get worse with each event. Their stars like Morosanu and Catinas usually fight cans, circus freaks or have-beens.

In 2011 and 2012 I really looked forward to their events, but now it feels like I'm just watching it 'because it's on'.

I was relieved when the time came for me to leave for the Movie Theatre and go watch X-Men and I didn't have to watch the rest of the card.

Edit: Why do they have a cruiserweight division and don't simply copy the weightclasses like GLORY has them.
A LHW division at -85kg makes no sense.
