Received the confirmation of my tickets for this about a fortnight ago. With the original headliner being Mousasi vs Bisping as the reason for going, with myself being a fan of Gegard and one of the other guys who is going is a mark for Bisping, we were slamming away with the friendly insults (and I must admit, the idea of being a Brit in an arena full of Brits, cheering against a Brit in the main event wasn't filling me with glee), it was with a most bizarre rush of anticipation after the same pal rang me to me inform, that on xmas eve of all days, that Anderson Silva was replacing Mousasi in the main event.
The kicker is that their was another friend of mine, Sean (I'll identify him, he's sure to appreciate it), on the slate to attend with us, but he backed out when he saw the card pre-Spider announcement. I believe his exact quote was "Nah, f*ck that shit." Naturally, being his friend, I couldn't wait to phone him and inform of his bad news.

So you're still going with a gang? That's great! Looks like a fun card, let's hope injuries don't spoil anything.

Yeah, four of us in total. 3 UFC fans, 1 just going for the sake of it. The rumoured cancellation of UFC 197 in Brazil looks to be the reason for Silva's sudden appearance in London. Vitor-Silva II was said to be on the cards but due to either an economic downturn or something more controversial/sinister, it's off the menu.

I guess it has to do with them airing it at a Europe friendly time.

I believe it's due to an attempt to increase Fight Pass subs. They've also got and also air live a hell of a lot of stuff that's not UFC related.

That's possible, especially now that they - rightfully or not - acquired some K-1 stuff. Makes the total package more appealing.

I haven't seen the event yet, but I've picked up talk about the controversy around the Bisping/Silva fight and decision.
What's your take on it, guys?
