Kimbo Slice dies at age 42espn.go.com/mma/story/_/id/16009900/kimbo-slice-dies-age-42I heard about it this morning from a colleague who's also a big MMA fan and what else can I say than this is another big loss. We all liked to give Kimbo crap for some of his less-than-stellar performances, but considering the circumstances and how late he got into the game I think he made a great career of the tools that were available to him and the chances he was given. Despite his ghetto and tough guy aura, from what I understand he was actually a good guy who took great care of his mom and kids. Hopefully his son who made an impressive MMA debut recently can carry his fathers torch.  RIP Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson

Kimbo was dope. not your standard traditional mma guy. not your standard traditional background. but like you said. the man made it work. won 5 fights. has some of the most watched fights in mma ratings wise. ill miss the dude honestly.

the thing that pains me the most is his recent failed steroid test. while he was wrong. you know he was doing them to be able to keep going and keep providing for his family. if that's why he died... ugh...

He equaled numbers, and set records for Elite XC, UFC, The Ultimate Fighter and Bellator. Messrs Tanikawa and Sakikabara were keen to have him on their events. However you Slice it, when he fought, people cared.
This was my favourite fight of Kimbo's. For no other reason than the crowd. They absolutely believed in him. He only had a couple of pro contests spread across MMA and boxing in Florida and only one in particular in Miami, and it's this one:
It's also worth highlighting his "exhibition" with former WBO heavyweight champ Ray Mercer that's not included on his official record.

fuckin crazy. dude had tons of shit wrong with him. gall bladder issues. he was on the fucking list for a heart transplant... had been in and out of the hospital the couple weeks prior to this. geezus. makes you think how it took til near death to get on the list to begin with. how was a fucking heart transplant not diagnosed in those weeks he was in and out of the hospital? lol.
