I don't know if anybody caught this but I watched it from start to finish and I thought it was the best event I've seen this year and prob one of the finest UFC shows, ever. IMO, of course. Typically, nobody watched it generally.
It was as if the fighters were sprinkled with some kind of magic elixir with Zuffa having departed the scene. The crowd was red hot from start to finish, with even Herb Dean getting a big round of applause. Tony Ferguson was so taken aback by the enthusiasm of the audience that he ignored the line of questioning in his post fight interview to put the crowd over. Twice. That fight was a FOTYC, I thought.
And the fight between Smolka and Nguyen reminded me of Sakuraba-Newton. Nguyen somehow was able to take Smolka's back whilst mounted at one point.
