DANIEL CORMIER SOMEHOW LOSES 1.2 POUNDS IN 2 MINUTES AT UFC 210 WEIGH-INSbleacherreport.com/articles/2702374-daniel-cormier-somehow-loses-12-pounds-in-2-minutes-at-ufc-210-weigh-insApparantly by leaning on a towel. To be honest I'm getting a bit tired of fighters (consistently) not making weight, barely making weight and flat out (nearly) dying from impossible weightcuts etc. If you don't have the discipline to make a certain weight you probably shouldn't be competing in that weightclass and maybe even have a good long think whether you should be competing at all. If you risk dying from losing unnatural amounts of weight you definitely shouldn't be fighting in that particular weightclass. Nothing against DC, I think this is his first controversial weigh-in, but incidents like this one seem to be happening more and more lately. Isn't risking your health by stepping in the ring/cage enough of a risk as it is? /rant. I don't want to come across as judgemental, but I feel the hunger for money/fame/ego-stroking shouldn't outweigh the priority of being healthy and being able to responsibly carry out/maintain ones livelyhood.

This is the first time we have seen such a towel trick so nobody really knew to look out for it. This kind of thing happens. Hopefully Dana gets pissed and introduces a measure to prevent it.

And considering what happened during, maybe after as well? Between Calvillo vs. Gonzalez being on/off/on again and DC's towel-gate, something happened during the event that completely ruined the flow of the main card: knee-gate. Weidman got a time-out for getting hit with an illegal knee by Mousasi, except that it wasn't illegal since Weidman's fingers were lifted from the canvas when the knee connected. Long story short, Weidman couldn't continue and Mousasi was declared winner by TKO as he should have been. I guess a counter argument could be made that Gegard initiated the second knee when Weidmans fingers were still touching the canvas, but can we all agree that it's a stupid rule to begin with? In theory it sounds simple enough: When a fighter touches the canvas with both hands (specifically fingers from both hands) you can't knee him/her in the head. The thing is, during the action it's sometimes really hard to make out whether or not someone is actually touching the ground or not when a knee is thrown and you get an unnecessary situation like this one. It sucks for Mousasi, it sucks for Weidman and it sucks for fans who were enjoying the fight and overall event thus far. Another thing of note: Johnson retiring? I wonder about the story behind it.
