Looks fun, very Guardians-y. I'm liking haircut Hulk. The contrast between this and the grounded blandness of the first movie was trippy. You get the sense that Marvel really was biding its time, understating the comic book origins in the first few movies and are now feel totally comfortable with bringing all the psychadellic coloring and outlandish settings of the source material.

They mentioned that they failed to get QJL when they revealed the card a couple months before. It was nice to dream though. Also lack of Jaraya is glaring. Yeah, I get that he really shouldn't be rewarded with more fights given what he's done but that's another absence that makes this field look weak. As much as I'm agreeing with this being a weaker card as far as star power goes, I for one am glad that Jaraya is not on it. In fact, I wouldn't complain if we never got to see him compete again. Not that that's even a remote possibility, just sharing my thoughts. From the get go, this card kind of felt like an inbetween event to me so somehow I care less about the lack of names. It probably shouldn't be way to look at this, but that's the way it is for me. At least as far as this card goes. If it becomes something frequent that's a different conversation. If the reason for this card having somewhat lesser names is that they're using the saved resources from this one to get a more quality heavyweight tournament I'm all for it, actually. I guess time will tell. Besides, this still might end up having high entertainment value like all their other events. Yeah feel the same on Jaraya. I don't doubt that this tournament is gonna be exciting. I guess I'm somewhat worried since I can't imagine that they're gathering top names for the HW tournament (after all, they've mentioned that KOICHI Pettas might be an entry). So that would make it two in-between events until the March card (which has to be huge). I guess this sorta embodies the worried I had about them expanding the number of weight classes to 2.5kgs. It thins the field somewhat and restricts them from being able to do regional tournaments like they used to do to build up weight classes. It was a concession they had to make to give opportunities to more domestic fighters stuck in Krush.

Ya now that I think about it, its a pretty weak tournament and realistically Kubo will probably dominate the field if Kimura doesn't KO him. Kubo has transitioned from a fighter to a trader unfortunately. Melsik Baghdasaryan by 3 KOs.

So after all the bigfoot vs Rico was true LOL. Bigfoot is 1-9 in his last 10. And has been brutally KO'd in every fight but one. They really want rico to finish someone ) I'm willing to bet my house and car on Rico... even if the odds are 1.01. Bigfoot is so shot and slow at this point that unless rico dies by heart attack in the ring, there is no way he losses this fight. Now you've jinxed it. I'm putting the house on BigFoot.

QJL, Varga, Pinca & Ulianov tournament rumoured on GoH for September. They've just been a mess for a while now but that'd be a good tournament hopefully meaning they're gradually getting their shit together. That tournament is ~5 days later I think so QJL is busy anyway, he was also supposed to fight a week from now but that event got cancelled like a few days ago. Still, doubt they would have wanted him in there unless he was to fight Kaew or Noiri. They mentioned that they failed to get QJL when they revealed the card a couple months before. It was nice to dream though. Also lack of Jaraya is glaring. Yeah, I get that he really shouldn't be rewarded with more fights given what he's done but that's another absence that makes this field look weak.

Man, I completely forgot about this. Doesn't help that Rizin gets ZERO coverage outside of their NYE events, which sadly proves the point I made earlier about it. Props for thinking of it and sharing the results! On to the most important stuff: what happened in the Garcia match!? Gabi got disqualified from SB by channeling the spirit of Badr Hari and going for stomps and soccerball kicks. In RIZIN she went full Jon Jones and started eye-hunting. I predict that she is going to bite King REINA's ear off in her next fight.

This card is pretty much finalized at the moment
Reserve -- Makihira Keita vs Kenji
Super Fights -- Takeru vs. Wang Juanguang -- Taiga vs. Stauros Exakoustidis -- Takei Yoshiki vs. Izawa Namito -- Hinata vs. Sergio Sanchez -- Urabe Hirotaka vs. Yamamoto Masahiro -- Shimano Kotaro vs. Koji
This card will also feature the finals of the K-1 College tournaments at 55, 60 and 65kgs.
Gotta say, this is the first K-1 Japan card I have been disappointed by. Now I'm sure its gonna feature a ton of knock outs and exciting moments and what have you, but the field is weak. Its not all K-1's fault (they tried to get Qiu Jiang Liang on the card but he declined and Komiyama Kosuke was supposed to fight Taiga but he selfishly injured himself saving a man from a burning car), but its hard to look at this field and say "the winner of this is the best guy in the division", especially when the division itself is a weird one K-1 is inventing from this event.
Instead of top names, you look at the card and you see that they're trying to sell it on the strength of storylines like Kimura vs Kubo. That might work for Krush, but K-1 is supposed to be about the best fighting the best. K-1 Japan needs to take a good hard look at the decisions that left them with this card and decide if they're fine with being Super-Krush or if they really do want to be worthy of calling themselves K-1.

New Kicking in Zubaz and Warman Kickfighting Podcasts: kakutougi.proboards.com/thread/797/2017-podcast-thread?page=4&scrollTo=18538Also, saw the Glory 37 purses posted, but only actually took a look at them just now and yikes! Did not expect them to be this low. At this rate if we all pooled together we could put on a decent card lol. Seriously though, I expect there to be some sort of 'complementary payment' going on behind the scenes - especially with some of the bigger names - but it probably isn't all that much. On the plus side; with this kind of payment I can see Glory comfortably staying above water for quite a while. On the downside these finances could (to a degree, at least) explain why the quality of the Glory cards has watered down so much. Surely that's not the full payout. Heck, Takeru is supposedly getting $100K per event excluding tournament winnings. No way Glory would be able to retain any talent if they're paying Israel a net of $740

Dammit Soda.
Great for Sasaki, but I think his prize for retaining is being next in line to get some crazy flying technique thrown at him by Rukiya. Gosyu Masanobu fights Anpo Riku for the Krush 60kg belt next. Anpo probably wins that and gets a call up to K-1.

Remy via flying gentleman. Then Badr runs up to the ring and sets up a rematch that's so great FEG is revived. K-1/Krush is fine having Chinese beat on them everywhere. I don't really care for the literal scoring they do "we beat Japan 4-2!!!" but when that happens event after event I don't think that's exactly the best thing for your brand(s) when tens of millions of people just see you losing. Even if outside your main market of Japan. Even the Krush x WLF event apparently got 700K paid online views I don't remember exactly but pretty sure that number has a 0 too many. The GoH iPPV didn't do amazingly but it was also basically a 6 fight card and cost the same Kunlun ones do. K-1's being strategic about it. They don't care to send their top fighters to fight in cross-promotion because they have events they're building up towards almost a year in advance. They're fine with having Krush talent and B-class K-1 guys like Hiroya, Izawa and Leona Pettas go abroad in the off season since it helps build up their resume when they can't book them. They also don't care who in Krush wins or loses since they position K-1 as being their "world class" guys. Its sucky, but a tradeoff with how relatively consistent their cards are in terms of match making. The number on the online views is a quote from their president who mentioned that it got 10x the numbers they usually do. That said, it was only like $3 apparently.

This chart is making the rounds! I found it referenced in this random Japanese blog postThese numbers really put things in stark contrast. China obviously has the massive TV deals. K-1 Japan is doing its Abema streaming thing with roughly a Million viewers per event. Even the Krush x WLF event apparently got 700K paid online views + 200K Japan free views. Fight Pass might be another source of viewership, but there's probably only about 450K subscribers nevermind how many of those actually watch the events. If Glory can pull less than 200K viewers consistently how long can we consider it to be a top kickboxing promotion and not just the guys who happen to have an English broadcast?

I wonder who Noiri will fight in Krush. Bulaid maybe? This will be Krush 79 (i.e. the annual Nagoya event). Noiri fights Diego Freitas (27-5) Yamato fights Chadd Collins (41-10-1) Neither super great opponents, but they are both coming off of fights in K-1 so I guess they didn't want to match em up against tough fighters. Noiri incidentally has fought Bulaid in Krush before. Of course the real draw is this poster that shows those two just seconds before being assassinated by Sato Yoshihiro.

Sales for the Switch have been surprisingly good. I just hope for good/better 3rd party support so the system is assured a healthy lifespan. It's been a while since I got a Nintendo console while it was still hot. After Nintendo 64 I decided to pass on the GameCube in favor of the PS2 (which turned out great), I eventually got a Wii but only because the price really dropped and I was able to mod it and I passed on the Wii U as well. I did buy all their handhelds though and I might just pick up a Switch. They need to address some things in the build quality though I've been reading about like the easily scratchable screen. I bought it day 1 for Zelda. Its the only game on it that I've put more than 5 hours in, but was worth every penny for it alone. But yeah, I'm presuming they must come out with a mark 2 soon. I've had no problems with scratches or breaks or desyncs, but the kickstand is a joke. Also, Atari? You're kidding me

I wonder what kind of questions they asked Noiri. Q. Please give us your impression looking back on the fight yesterday. A. Well, I can't say I'm really feeling that this is real to me yet. On the fight itself, I might have gotten the win, but in terms of my performance I see only things to reflect and improve upon. I've heard that from the fans themselves, well yesterday is done. I would like to show them something different in my fights as a champion going forward. Q. You mentioned you had regrets about the fight. Can you tell us why you think were able to win and what those regrets were? A. How can I say this. I think I was too focused on winning and not enough on throwing volume. In general I think I was too passive. I suppose I was able to win because my focus on winning overruled [my wish to be active]. Q. Kaew mentioned also that he would like to take the belt back from you. Do you feel like a rematch will happen? A. Yes. I think everyone would want to see this rivalry settled clearly. Kaew and I are now 1-1, so I feel like as champion I'm obliged to take Kaew's challenge and put on a fight that makes it clear that I am the rightful winner. Q. As a champion, you will be participating in the Krush Nagoya event in August. How do you feel about that? A. Well Nagoya Krush is an event that started because I suggested it. I'm really looking forward to it and I plan on attending Nagoya Krush as a champion for years to come. There is a lot of pressure associated with it, but its the Champ's duty to perform under that condition. My opponent is going to be another foreign fighter, but as a K-1 champion I promise to defeat him. Please watch. Q. Putting aside Kaew for a moment, there's a lot of great contenders in this weight class. Anyone else you're interested in? A. Well there are a lot of great fighters both domestically and overseas... I don't want to fight him up because he's been very good to me outside the ring, but I've lost to (Yamato) Tetsuya-kun before in muay thai and want to get my revenge... But there are a lot of guys out there, if I start listing names there's no end.
