See? Germany is actually not well-suited for tackling an epidemic. The federal government's restrictions/measures have been overturned by local states left and right. It's extremely easy for the states to do this in Germany.
This is going to be a big problem. Some of the states seem determined not to listen to the government. From the public health point of view, the federal government is right. The Berlin court's reasoning for overturning the curfew sounds very misguided, and suggests that they don't quite understand the scale of the fire that they are playing with, or the nature of Covid-19. They say "according to the official data, there's no sufficient justification for this particular measure blah blah blah" but that's not how you deal with this problem, not least because epidemiology is not strict science.
You MUST be preemptive. Bars are no good NO MATTER WHAT. You can't fight this virus like that. Once it's gone above a certain threshold, everyday is a kitchen sink time.
Those courts sound like they are trying to reason with a shark. Delusional.

To be fair, none of the libertarians that I personally know are for herd immunity. I don't think there's any consensus among them on that.
It's usually the laziest, most ignorant, dopey-est fools that argue (if you can even call what they do "arguing") for the crap. The most childish mental children among the mental children, you know.

While most people follow the guidelines, masks are a controversial discussion point in Germany too and it's annoying how much of a topic it is on the net. Beside people sticking to their beliefs, individualistic narcissism and scam methods also go hand in hand on this topic, you have several influencers saying "Masks are only there to control the sheeps, not smart guys like you!.. Hey, here is my merch and my food supplements shop with things that keep you safe from diseases".
As you said, humans are visual animals, maybe that's also why people somehow assume wearing masks in small buildings totally changes society. The people realise they're not as free as the commercials, political talks etc. would suggest, but don't know why as many factors of power in our society are not directly visible. So I guess it's alluring to think instead "See that? It are the masks, that's how they enslaved us!" like it was alluring to blame visible immigrants for problems that already existed before they arrived.
If people would want to be paranoid in Germany they could at least choose real subjects like cashless payment (Germany is still a country with mostly cash payments), which is being advertised to use, but by no sign brings anything against the pandemic. There you have at least big corporations with profit interests, surveillance and actual connected lobbyism (Better Than Cash Alliance). Meantime the endlessly talked about masks are somehow supposed to be a master plan to enslave us because.. whatever esoteric freedom yada they come up with. Unfortunately also among parts of the left there is no lack of that pseudo-rebel nonsense.

You know I've been around and experienced a lot of different cultures in my life, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that German contrarians are the WORST, lol. Extremely arrogant, annoying people, the textbook definition of "too clever by half," mistaking cleverness for intellect. Fucking idiots in other words. I'd rather ignore those people, but yeah, they can literally harm you in a pandemic like this. But I see them as a gigantic pile of shit in the room that you have to somehow live with...

Generation AgoraphobiaAfter months of lockdown, adults just want to get out of the house. For some children, the issue is more fraught. www.nytimes.com/2020/10/16/style/my-kids-dont-want-to-go-outside.html"After months of lockdown" ... in America. If that was a "lockdown", what should we call what Europeans did in the spring? You know, it was indeed kind of strict in New York and some other places, so these NYT people do have a perspective and experiences that are a tad different from most Americans'. Regardless, this misunderstanding is persistent, and no good. The Japanese have similar misunderstanding too. They have no idea what Italians went through.

Of course that QAnon Dum-dum Bin Laden twat niece would appear in Tucker Carlson show to whine about her victimhood. Why not? lol
The worst kind of human beings, truly, and I definitely mean worse than her uncle.

It seems that many countries have been awfully underprepared for the "second wave". It has been obvious since August that it was coming. I posted "Covid-19 Second Wave Guide" of sorts specifically for Europe in this thread in late August.
No excuses available for them.
I assumed they were having secret meetings and everything behind the doors. It does seem that in many places that wasn't the case at all.
Unbelievable.

Many people sound like if they visit a food processing factory and are asked to wear a mask they would vehemently complain about that violating their Freedom. They'd have to if they stick to that "logic."

All those free people taking 2nd mortgages signing their paychecks away. I was stranded in a hotel in Frankfurt a few years ago right across the street from one of their 'Churches'. IIRC some of my friends went in, pretending to be interested in signing up. Place looked creepy from the outside, I had no interest in finding out what my thetan level was.

US Midwest is having its second wave now, with Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan particularly hit hard, and those are exactly the states that Trump will need to win.
Not that that fool gives a shit, but people in those states do give a shit.
Will he ever realize that he has been completely, utterly toyed with by Covid?
Like I said many times, reality isn't kind to those who disrespect it too much, and a pandemic is an ultimate reality.
