All those free people taking 2nd mortgages signing their paychecks away. I was stranded in a hotel in Frankfurt a few years ago right across the street from one of their 'Churches'. IIRC some of my friends went in, pretending to be interested in signing up. Place looked creepy from the outside, I had no interest in finding out what my thetan level was. Nice, I think my ex girlfriend was or still is the third or fourth in command at the Frankfurt church, lol.

Speaking of Scientology, I'm still waiting for them to apologize to me for attacking me when I called Rudy Giuliani the stupidest, most delusional "moderate" Republican who is so empty that he could become a Scientologist or Neo-KKK member any minute if someone can stroke his ego and lure him into it. I literally said that.
I usually suck at predictions, but was absolutely prescient on him. He's now a crazy far-right old fool who believes George Soros is behind everything.
And, although most people seem to have forgotten it, that insane clown has been so hilariously fired up as Trump's lieutenant partly because he still resents this and hates, hates, hates Joe Biden:

It's kind of hard to believe, but makes all the sense if you know him, that Donald Trump has come to take Covid-19 LESS seriously since he has been infected.
The point is that he's immune now. *He* is out of the woods. That's all that matters to him.
It's terrifying if you think about it. We elected a complete sociopath. Not that we didn't know that, but the shit has really brought it home.

Amy Coney Barrett is a horrible religious nutcase, and anyone who is for her becoming a Supreme Court judge is setting America back by many, many years, and you should feel that way even if you're very religious.
There I said something truly unoriginal, but it's true.

Zuckerberg: "discuss broader political and philosophical themes" with Ben Shapiro LOL But it's okay because "they disagree on" many things, right. The future of the world is in good hands, of someone who "discuss broader political and philosophical themes" with the world's biggest dipshit.

Sorry these are all boring unoriginal rants, but some people are just beneath contempt.

It's absolutely hilarious that every single mainstream journalist is doing that "Hear me out, this is why Trump can still win it" dance almost on the daily basis. Hedging hard like a motherfucker.

Tucker Carlson's face is the most punchable in the whole world right now. Look at this "I'm serious" look that he makes on every show. This man has never had to work for a living in his entire life.

So, "Sweden was right." I don't mean to knock you, my Swedish friends. It's just that there are complete idiots who have been using your country as a prop to advance their moronic agenda. They don't give a shit about you and your economy and your health in actuality.

What that chart shows is that Sweden is just an outlier and... not a good one. Every country that's outside the top left column is bad.
And it's not really about the "trade-offs"; It's rather a simple case of some countries handling it better than the others, and very very obviously Finland for example has done MUCH better than Sweden thus far, while the UK and Spain have done significantly worse than both of them.
Generally speaking, it's easier for smaller countries to handle an epidemic than it is for bigger ones. So, once again, Germany has been remarkable at least by the European standards.

If there is one thing that I would praise Sweden for, it's the fact that they managed to keep the fatalities lower than they could've been largely thanks to the discipline of the population, despite the government measures that seem fairly dangerous in hindsight (and did end up losing far too many people's lives particularly in nursing homes).
It's all relative, but it could've been absolutely catastrophic.
Nevertheless, the thing is, I believe that we will be able to basically get ourselves out of this pandemic next year, albeit perhaps gradually. Sweden didn't aim for herd immunity, but I suspect their assumption was that it will take years to get vaccines/treatment.
The jury is STILL out, but I'd bet that Denmark, Finland and Norway made a better bet.

Congratulations, America. You are officially in the "third wave." Of course you can totally argue that America has never gotten out of the "first wave," so you could call it "climbing the third mountain" or something.
What a fucking disaster. I won't be able to go back to my place any time soon. I can't thank my neighbors enough. They are kind enough to take care of everything.
In case you haven't gotten the memo, there will be no Thanksgiving this year, and probably no Christmas either.
Meanwhile, I went to a basketball game today. The attendance was nearly 3k, indoors. About half the capacity, and masks mandatory. No shouting. But there were nearly 3k people in closed indoor space where "social distancing" is very difficult, and it was a good game.
There are regular seasons of baseball, soccer and basketball going on here, with spectators.
But carry on with valuing your "Freedom."

I have this fear that the "third wave" in America will be gigantic. I don't see anything that can stop it. The government isn't going to do shit. Trump's top adviser is Scott Atlas, that woo woo doctor who likes "Sweden" a lot. The US government has been captured by degenerates.
And the vaccines won't come soon enough to mitigate it.
I mean, to be honest, I'm worried in general about the global Covid situation. I'm beginning to suspect that the "second wave" in Europe will be worse than I thought, with far more deaths than I imagined. Things might turn bad around here in East Asia too.
Sure, we test a lot more now. So we find more cases. But conversely we have to test a lot because there are many cases. And when there are many cases, there are many sick people. And when there are many sick people, many will die.
The numbers we are getting are too big. I have to pay attention to those numbers now. I was wrong. You can't ignore them when the scale is this big.
At the end of the day, most tests are done for people who actually feel sick, with symptoms, and their close contacts at office/home/school/etc. The numbers don't come out of vacuum, and those drive-in tests and so on are just a tiny, tiny fraction of it.
SARS-CoV-2 might be having the final hurrah before the effective vaccines. I hope not, but that's the realistic fear.

I've been looking at the demographic change/polling/vote registration numbers in various counties in Texas for the research purpose, and it is fairly obvious that soon the Evangelical Christian voters won't be enough to keep the state red. Their growth is outpaced by that of Latinos/immigrants/young white liberals/leftists.
I'm 80% certain that the state will vote for Trump this time, but only barely. If nothing drastic happens, Republicans won't be able to rely on Texas's 38 electoral votes anymore - a huge, huge blow to their presidential electoral chances in 2024 and beyond.
It will be awfully close this time, and that's NOT just because it's Trump. The state is just turning blue no matter what.
Republicans will have to find a way to massively, massively suppress the Latino votes anyhow.
