You can't bring QAnon believers back into reality. It's just impossible. It's a fairly powerful conspiracy theory, with very little pseudo-academic pretense. It has lots and lots of righteousness and the privilege of benevolence. Every participant is literally a Hero in that narrative, with a capital H.
You cannot pull them out of such a psychologically cozy fantasy. Sure, some of them will leave it, but only on their own initiative, triggered by some accidental life event(s).
It will keep rotting their brains. You "reach out" to such people at your own peril. Consider them to be permanently lost.
A society can afford to have a certain number of such people, but there's of course a limit. We'll have to "flatten the curve," so to speak. But that's all we can do.

The "president Trump didn't start a new war" crowd are exactly the type of marks who never read the fine print and get shafted by insurance companies.

The health care workers on the front line, nurses in particular, must be lavishly compensated to the point where you almost feel like it's obscene, over the top. Give them Lexus, Porsche, whatever they like. Behave like a corrupt regime in the third world that showers their supporters with bribes.
In short, give them a fucking raise at least.

Paxton gets it. I've Hesitated to Call Donald Trump a Fascist. Until Now | Opinionwww.newsweek.com/robert-paxton-trump-fascist-1560652You get the impression from historical arguments/analogies that you hear on the media and elsewhere that only Germany/Weimar existed in Europe back in the days. It's just laziness and ignorance. They should know that France in the 1930s is clearly a much better analogy for Trump's America than Weimar or fascist Italy.

Everyone is focusing on that fool Steve Bannon, but there are some truly odious names among that pardon list.
Good grief.

It's important to analyze the Trump phenomenon, but there's always the danger of overanalyzing it from the sociological/philosophical point of view.
You always have to be aware of the gigantic gorilla in the room, that is the uniquely stupid anti-majoritarian system of the US presidential election: The Electoral College. Trump would've been nowhere near the White House without the crucial institutional assist by that 18th-century relic of a system.
His approval rates didn't manage to reach 50% even once during his term. Not even once. He was the least popular president since the polling began. You cannot ignore that fact while you analyze the meaning of his presidency.

So, there you have it, the 46th president of the United States of America, who succinctly and perhaps quite correctly called yours truly "a fool" many moons ago.
I never thought he would ever make it.

Not that I expected anything different from Biden, but this same old message peppered with trite American exceptionalism is really nauseating given where we actually are.
I mean, fuck "unity," for one.
Hello to another four years of skipping all presidential speeches. I know he means well, and of course this is the kind of a message that is most appropriate for the inauguration. His ability to be a broken record is one of his strengths as a politician. But this is the first day, first few hours of his presidency, and I already can't take it anymore, lol.

Some people are having a pretty rough time now.
At least hundreds of thousands of people like this are trying to digest what's happening now and getting diarrhea.

But Biden did smuggle some "But I won't talk to you if you are crazy" into that speech if I'm not mistaken. That's good. It's not mindless bipartisanship.

The answer is basically nothing. Hell, Johnson wasn't going to be getting much from the Trump administration either, so let alone Joe Biden.

I knew that despite all that he did for Donald Trump, Ken Paxton was never going to get a pardon. He never had a shot as far as I'm concerned.
Donald Trump values loyalty for sure. He treats you well if he likes you, AND if you like him back (= if you are VERY good at faking your liking him). But I knew he thought nothing of Ken Paxton. Paxton is exactly the type that Donald would call a "phony."
